So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish

Twitter

I told myself I wouldn't get emotional today. Turns out, like a Democrat, I lied.

Why? Well, this is my last VIP for Twitchy, my last article for Twitchy, as I prepare to start working full-time for our sister site, Townhall, tomorrow.

I am beyond excited for this new adventure, of course. I am grateful to Storm Paglia, Katie Pavlich, and Jonathan Garthwaite for giving me an opportunity, and I am eternally grateful to Sam, Doug, Brett, and the rest of the awesome Twitchy writers for the last two years.

What I wanted to do with Twitchy was, first and foremost, to have fun. It started as a way to use my degree (I have a Master's in English, after all) and make a little extra money. I never imagined it would turn into a full-time freelance gig, but I'm thankful it did.

The other thing I wanted to do was talk politics. To shine a light on the anti-American insanity of the Left and help restore the America I know and love. The pen is mightier than the sword, after all.

We, as a nation, have made some headway in restoring our great country. Those of you who have followed me on X for a while know I was very much in the anti-Trump crowd back in 2016. I didn't think he could beat Hillary Clinton, and I was mad that he was going to saddle us with four to eight years of that contemptible shrew. I voted for Gary Johnson that year. In 2020, I saw the problems with Joe Biden and voted for Trump. And in 2024, I would've crawled across broken glass to vote for him when the alternative was Kamala Harris. We dodged a bullet.

But while that battle was won, the war is far from over.

I wrote many stories about Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, the brave woman who has stood up to the radical trans activists for years, despite death threats, political harassment, and threats of arrest. In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Professor Alastor Moody talked about the need for 'constant vigilance' against the dark forces threatening the wizarding world. We, too, need to remain constantly vigilant.

The Democratic Party has no plans to moderate its rhetoric or its policies, and we must beat them back at every opportunity.

In New Jersey, the Democratic candidate for governor wants to make the LGBTQ agenda a mandatory part of school curricula (and forbid parents from opting out), and the Democrats in the state legislature want to force homeschooling parents to teach DEI.

The party continues to double and triple down on being soft on crime. In North Carolina, a 23-year-old woman from Ukraine, Iryna Zarutska, was stabbed by a career criminal while riding on public transport in Charlotte. Her murderer, Decarlos Brown, Jr., was arrested more than a dozen times prior to his fatal encounter with Zarutska. Rather than admit the coddling of criminals caused this completely preventable tragedy, the Mayor of Charlotte simply said she was 'thinking hard about what safety really looks like in [her] city' before saying we can't 'arrest our way' out of crime.

We, of course, can. Democrats choose not to. Because they put the 'rights' of criminals like Decarlos Brown, Jr., or Chicago man William Livingston (who assaulted five women in downtown Chicago), or Demond Taylor in St. Louis, who was released on $5,000 bond after shooting and killing a police officer

They put the 'rights' of illegal immigrants ahead of Americans, too, going so far as to defend guys like Kilmar Abrego Garcia (even having margaritas with him) and cry over the Venezuelan narco terrorists we blew out of the water last week while they tried to run drugs into our country to kill more Americans.

Meanwhile, Democrats demand Australia-style gun confiscation (even though they can't define what an 'assault weapon' is) in response to a 'trans-identified' male shooting Catholic school children at Annunciation Church in Minneapolis, killing two.

James Carville, Beto O'Rourke, and Jasmine Crockett have also made it very clear that the Democrats will destroy this nation if they ever regain power, thus cementing them as our one-party rulers because they believe our rights come from government and not God.

What does that look like, exactly? Take a glance at the U.K., where comedian Graham Linehan was recently arrested by five armed police officers for the 'crime' of being 'gender-critical' (meanwhile, trans activists can wish harm and death on 'TERFs' like me with zero consequences). Brits have been arrested for posting 'offensive' memes to Facebook, saying they love bacon, and attending protests against the government's suicidal decision to import radical Islamists who attack, rape, and murder their fellow citizens.

Kamala Harris and Tim Walz ran on a platform of censorship, saying 'hate speech' and 'misinformation' aren't protected by the First Amendment. Walz pushed for a hate speech registry in Minnesota, and you could have landed on that registry by supporting the aforementioned J.K. Rowling. CBS sang the praises of tyrannical German politicians who bragged about silencing citizens who post ungoodthink online, with Margaret Brennan begging for Weimar Republic-like speech codes. I don't think Brennan would be overly fond of what follows a second Weimar Republic.

I could write pages and pages of this, but my point is this: the Democratic Party has no intention of stopping.

So we must not stop, either. We must keep fighting, every day, to stop the Left from turning this nation into a police state run by them. The midterms are looming, and 2028 will be here before we know it.

That is what I did here at Twitchy, and what I'll continue doing over at Townhall: fighting the good fight in my own small way. And it's what I implore anyone reading this to keep doing. Keep fighting, keep reading the great work here at Twitchy, and wherever conservatives fight to protect and preserve America.

And before I go, I have to say thanks to you, dear readers. You read, shared, and commented on my work (and I wrote a lot of articles, about 300 a month). You sent me tips. You pointed out the typos (even if I hated learning I'd made a mistake), and you gave me insight and perspectives I hadn't considered -- those things made me a better thinker and a better writer.

I appreciate you more than I could ever put into words.
