Throughout the 2024 campaign, after Democrats booted President Joe Biden from the race and installed Kamala Harris, it was very clear that the enthusiasm and momentum surrounding her campaign was a fabricated media narrative and nothing more.
From the moment she entered the race -- having received precisely zero primary votes -- she was in a dead heat with Donald Trump in the polls. Polls that often heavily oversampled Democrats, by the way. In August 2024, Newsweek insisted Kamala's poll numbers were only growing and the sky was the limit.
This was after an event in North Carolina that was light on attendees but heavy on media.
As the election neared, it became clear that Kamala Harris' poll numbers were not good, no matter what media did to spin it. Internal polling was abysmal, and the blue wall was crumbling.
Then came election night and, well, we all know how that turned out.

Now it's March 15 and the Democratic Party has yet to find its footing. They are currently screaming and rending their garments over Chuck Schumer's capitulation on the spending bill that just passed Congress, Tim Walz is showing how racist and xenophobic he (and the Democratic Party) really is, Jasmine Crockett can't read but she sure can attack Trump, and they're on the losing side of every major political issue including illegal immigration and letting boys into girls' locker rooms.
So if there was ever a visual for the current state of the Democratic Party, it's this:
They’re selling Kamala ‘Miss Me Yet?’ t-shirts at the airport in DC.

I asked the sales lady how many they’ve sold.

In Washington D.C.
Where Kamala Harris got 92.5% of the vote.
This leads me to draw a few conclusions.
First and foremost, Kamala Harris' national political career is over. There's talk of a run for California governor, but at a time when Cali needs leadership in the wake of the Los Angeles fires, Kamala has been conspicuously absent. There is an opportunity she's missing (and don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want her inflicted on California anymore than I did D.C.); Karen Bass has deleted all the incriminating evidence into her missteps in the L.A. wildfires and Gavin Newsom is desperately trying to imitate Marcel Marceau as he launches his podcast influencer career.
Kamala could be going out and visiting L.A. residents, holding town hall meetings, and advocating for change. I notice she isn't. Then again, I can't really blame her. She did give an interview and it -- as always -- was a bunch of empty platitudes and word salad.
Second, the Democratic Party brand is damaged, and almost irreparably so. In terms of actual policy positions, what have Democrats offered since President Trump's inauguration? Nothing of substance.
They were very quick to point out egg prices went up (ignoring the fact their guy culled millions of chickens before leaving office), but were pretty silent when egg prices plummeted earlier this week. They also were quiet about inflation dipping below expectations and gas prices hitting their lowest point since March of 2021.
They were very quick to brag when Joe Biden saved us pennies on our Fourth of July barbecues, though.
The best the Democrats can do right now is post lame lists about all the things they did on any given day, and I can sum those up for you thusly: ORANGE MAN BAD! OPPOSE ORANGE MAN AT ALL COSTS! REEEE! REEEE! [Incoherent sobbing]
And, finally, this: do not trust legacy media. That's been evident for years, but now that President Trump has returned to office, we'll see story after story from these people about how he's unpopular, how the Democrats are poised for a comeback, how Tim Walz or Pete Buttigieg will be the next president (hahahaha!). Don't listen to them.
If they were to be believed, Kamala Harris would be president today.
