When it comes to hills to die on, Democrats are currently batting .000.
I couldn't imagine that they could do any worse than standing up for men in women's bathrooms, or demanding margaritas for illegal, human-trafficking gang members like Kilmar Abrego Garcia, but every day, they seem to be finding a new cause to show Americans that they hate this country and its citizens.
One of their latest uproars, of course, is President Trump sending in the National Guard to finally clean up Washington, DC, after decades of failed one-party Democrat rule.
The left has screamed 'authoritarian' and 'fascism,' obviously, because they don't actually have any arguments. Also, because they have never read the Constitution. DC should have never been granted home rule in 1973, and the district's mayor and city council have proven why pretty much every year since then. Not to mention the residents who keep voting for failure in every election. Those residents have been sold a narrative that crime is impossible to fix. It's not.
But the problem Democrats have, as always, is that we have eyes and ears. And we trust them a lot more than we trust ANY politicians, but particularly those who are known for gaslighting.
They lie that crime is down (based on cooked numbers that even got a DC police commander suspended). But we see and hear stories of it every night. The tipping point for the President seems to be when DOGE staffer Ed 'Big Balls' Coristine saw a carjacking taking place and waded in like a hero to prevent that crime and save the woman who was about to be victimized.
Coristine was beaten severely by a gang of 8-10 teen thugs, but his heroism shone a spotlight on the violent crime problem in the city, and Trump finally said, 'Enough is enough.'
It has only been a few days since Trump enacted his plan, and we are already seeing how effective it is. Again, not from politicians, but with our eyes and ears. The problem CAN be fixed. It just takes the will to do so.
The other day, Caterpillar front-loaders were spotted clearing out homeless encampments in the city, which also happen to be drug nests.
This decaying homeless encampment is currently being cleared and cleaned up in Washington, D.C.

President Trump promised to make our nation's capital safe and beautiful again — and he is delivering. pic.twitter.com/EzffS8CLhd
If that's not what winning looks like, I don't know what does.
Leftists will cry their crocodile tears about 'compassion,' but it is not compassion to let these people destroy a city while they wallow in their own filth. There are resources for them. The problem is that most of them don't want those resources.
They are free to make that choice, but they are not free to spread violence, crime, drugs, and disease on the streets of our nation's capital.
There have been many other signs of how quickly the administration is making DC great again.
A huge surge in arrests is one of the best signs.

There are 800 guardsmen in DC, only 200 ‘on duty’ at any time with 100 arrests in three days.
— The🐰FOO (@PolitiBunny) August 15, 2025
So 200 guardsmen making roughly 35 arrests a day.
There are over 3000 DC cops making 56 arrests a day.
Do the math, Frank. https://t.co/Lmo28LTMRn
Just as importantly, the 'resisters' are finding out that federal agents don't play around when they try to interfere with those arrests.
BREAKING - Last night, DC residents not used to being held accountable were shocked as they were arrested by DC Metro Police for interfering in an arrest. pic.twitter.com/LB4QZIDTew

Most infamously this week, one of those 'resisters' was a (now former) DOJ employee who thought flinging his Subway sandwich at federal agents was a good idea.
Well, now he's unemployed, in jail, and facing federal charges. So, that didn't work out so great for him.
But maybe the best way to learn how well the policy is working is to hear it from DC residents themselves.
For the past 3 nights, there have been no sounds of gunshots or kids on dirt bikes/quads doing donuts in intersections in my neighborhood in D.C.

Make D.C. Safe Again
“DC feels so weird right now.” 😂😂 They’ve forgotten what a safe city feels like. pic.twitter.com/0Q3n3985Yn

Amazing. Crime has been so commonplace in DC in recent years that it feels 'weird' to be in a safe city.
Perhaps the people who understand how much this crackdown is needed are the DC Police themselves. Not the leadership (the Chief of Police doesn't even know what a chain of command is), but the officers on the street.
And the DC Police Union, representing 3,000 officers, has fully endorsed the federal takeover (while denouncing the City Council and Mayor). They appreciate federal agents who will HELP them do their jobs, not stop them from doing it.
This is winning, and as a DC-adjacent resident who used to love going into the city, I am not getting even a little bit tired of it.
Obviously, a few days of success from the National Guard and federal agents does not solve the problem of crime in DC. But the Caterpillars, the arrests, the refusal to bow to lawless mobs, all of it tells us one thing.
The decline of DC was a choice. A choice made by its elected leaders. All it took to start to reverse that decline was a new President.
In the case of DC, Trump has the authority to assert federal control. He does not have that same authority when it comes to equally squalid blue cities across the country (nor should he).
But turning DC around will hopefully show the residents of those cities that it is not impossible -- it is not even all that difficult -- to reduce crime, clear out homeless drug dens, and make those cities the beautiful places they once were. It will show them that their mayors, city councils, and law enforcement leadership have also made a choice. A horrible one. And then lied to them about an 'unfixable problem.'
Finally, I can only hope that it will remind them that they get to make a choice as well. And in their next local elections, they can choose to vote for winning instead of continued decay.
