It is sometimes difficult for me to believe that Barbara Comstock was once a Republican representative in Virginia. And, honestly, she was a pretty decent one.
But then I remember how TDS has utterly destroyed some people who were once independent and critical thinkers. And, unfortunately, it brings out their true colors.
Looking back on Comstock's history, before 2016, she used to be pretty relentless in confronting the leftist media. Ever since Donald Trump walked down that golden escalator, however, she has devolved into just another screeching leftist like so many other 'principled conservatives' I could name.
In doing so, however, Comstock has let slip what she really thinks of the Virginians she used to represent, and all Americans in general.
After the President's speech on Thursday night detailing the insecurity of American elections and releasing classified documents proving China's election interference, some of the most unhinged responses have come from those who used to call themselves Republicans but were broken by the Bad Orange Man.
Following up on the speech, DHS Director Markwayne Mullin announced that the administration was instituting an election security crackdown, including requiring access to states' voter rolls and holding accountable state officials who refused to comply with this basic necessity for a secure election.

Obviously, we knew the left would recoil at this and have a conniption.
False bravado artist Gavin Newsom once again assured everyone that his state's elections are safe and secure (wink, wink), and dared DHS to prove otherwise.
Mullin tried not to laugh out loud in response to that claim.

Mullin concluded that post by telling Newsom that third-world countries do it better. And he's right.
But the fact that Democrats are going to try to fight against any election security measures is not a surprise. They NEED election fraud to win. Elissa Slotkin admitted that publicly this week.
No, it is the WAY that they are fighting back that is the true reveal here.
And that brings me to Comstock.
In her TDS-addled rage, she accidentally let slip her liberal elitism and contempt for anyone who does not have her preferred credentials.

'The plumber who never went to college.'
That says it all, right there.
I'm not going to spend any time detailing how the Left lies about Mullin's background. (You can read more about that here.) Because even if he were just 'a plumber' and not a successful businessman who built his own HVAC business, the point is that Comstock hates him for not being a fellow elitist.
(She also hates him because she hates Trump, but we knew that already.)
Most importantly, she has sneering contempt for anyone like Mullin. Anyone who does not have her desired pedigree will be sneered at and mocked with dripping disdain.
In other words, the majority of Americans.
The other things she says about Mullin—his law enforcement and legal background—are almost an afterthought. Comstock knows that DHS has an army of lawyers who review election law and advise the Secretary before he makes an announcement such as this one.
She doesn't care.
She made the point she wanted to make in the first seven words of her tweet.

Unlike some others in the TDS crowd, such as Adam Kinzinger, Comstock hasn't actually declared herself a Democrat ... yet.
But she might as well. She thinks exactly like the worst of them.

It's not merely snobbery.
It is that, but it is far worse. It is malignant scorn and unbridled hatred.
What a shame that Comstock—originally from Massachusetts, which is a giant tell—still calls Virginia home, the birthplace of so many of our Founders.
I can only imagine what she would think of Patrick Henry. Or George Mason. Or George Washington.
None of those men went to college either, but all of them accomplished far more than Barbara Comstock will for the rest of her TDS-demolished life.
