The Prison Across the Pond

The totalitarian depths to which the United Kingdom has sunk, and the speed at which it has done so, are as breathtaking as they are disappointing. In the past 80 years, the once-great empire has gone from dominating the world to an authoritarian hellhole, where you will be harassed by authorities for calling shoplifters scumbags (that's racist) and arrested for professing a love of bacon (that's also racist).

Being a 'curious observer' of protests the government doesn't like will also land you in the slammer, and saying 'hateful' things on social media will get you a 31-month prison sentence like the one given to mum Lucy Connelly (she was recently released).

That's not enough for the totalitarian jackboots who currently populate the British government, however.

MP Shabana Mahmood, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice has made it very clear that they intend to turn the U.K. into an actual open-air prison, where committing crimes will allow the state to take away all that you love:

Here's more from Ms. Mahmood the Mirror:

Just like criminals are forced to give up what they like when they spend a stint in jail, those on community sentences must be forced to sacrifice too. Take football, as the new season starts. For many fans, their time on the terraces is the highlight of their week.

But crooks who cause chaos on our streets could soon be banned from stadiums – stranded at home while their mates cheer from the stands. Or holidays. Lawbreakers may dream of sun, sea and sangria each Summer.

But they won’t get far – because tough new enforcement means probation officers can send them back to prison if they try. This is about punishing criminals for the harm they have done. It is also about protecting victims.

We’re bringing in new restriction zones that will fence the worst offenders into a single area. This will mean victims can go wherever they want without fear of the person who hurt them watching over their shoulder.

I have to ask: does this include the roving gangs of 'Asian' males who have groomed, sexually assaulted, and raped numerous British girls for the past two decades?

Somehow, I don't think it will. Just over a year ago, I detailed how the U.K. has a very clear two-tier justice system when it comes to certain criminals -- namely, those who are of certain racial and ethnic backgrounds like Mustafa Al Mbaidib. He assaulted an emergency worker. He was ordered to pay £2 a month -- no, that's not a typo -- and released from community service obligations. Steve Mallon shouted and 'gesticulated' at police; he was sentenced to 26 months behind bars.

What about the Pakistani man whose wife defended his attempted rape of a 13-year-old girl by saying he had no idea sexual assault was illegal in the U.K.? Or his fellow Pakistani who assaulted a teenage girl and wasn't deported because his alcoholism would pose a threat to his safety back in his native country.

Will they 'lose what they love', Ms. Mahmood? Or do they get a pass because they 'don't understand' British culture? I fear we all know what that answer is.

Then again, it's hard to imagine what more the British government can take from its people. They don't have freedom of speech, and the so-called 'Online Safety Bill' (OSB) that was meant to 'protect children' has been used to silence the victims of those aforementioned grooming gangs, block videos of police arresting people (probably for mean Facebook posts), and censor posts about lactose intolerance, donkeys, and Neanderthals. The last one might make sense when you realize the British government has let tens of thousands of Neanderthals into the country, where the number of reported rape cases has increased fourfold in the last twenty years (to a whopping 71,667 in 2024/2025). Women don't have the right to single-sex spaces in the NHS, and the Union Jack -- Britain's flag -- is now 'problematic' and should be scrapped for something more 'multicultural.'

The U.K. is an object lesson in what happens when you don't have a Constitution that protects your unalienable right to free speech and your right to keep and bear arms. The U.K. banned guns in 1997, and less than 30 years later, we've got politicians gloating about how they will take away all you love if you cross the totalitarian state.

The land of 'Keep Calm and Carry On' has decided to use Orwell as an instruction manual rather than a cautionary tale, and I weep for what it's become.
