As a woman, I find the Democratic Party's shameless pandering extremely offensive and condescending. They so desperately want my votes they'll post things like this hoping it'll convince me to pull the lever for them in November:
Trust women.
— Vice President Kamala Harris (@VP) August 12, 2024
Trust them to make decisions about their own body, health care, and future. pic.twitter.com/wf9Sq9mgWc
This is a great post that'll garner all the right attention among the Democratic Party base, but it's also a campaign promise that is extremely narrow in scope.
See, when Kamala says 'trust women' she means about abortion. And only when a woman chooses abortion.
The most galling aspect of this is how Kamala, like her fellow Leftists, can magically define women when it suits their political agenda. Where was Kamala when Rachel Levine -- a man and high ranking Biden administration official -- replaced the word 'women' with the degrading phrase 'egg producers'?
Did Kamala trust women like me (and others) who were offended by this dehumanizing rhetoric? No.
I've written at length about how Kamala and other Democrats lie to women about abortion laws. Not only does she say it takes away our rights (it doesn't; there is no right to abortion), but she will tell women suffering miscarriages they are at risk in states with abortion bans. Her rhetoric patently false. No state's abortion laws prohibit the treatment of a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. None. To say a hospital will deny a woman actual healthcare in the face of a miscarriage/ectopic is the worst sort of dishonest partisan hackery. Kamala is using the most painful, tragic thing that can happen to a woman -- the loss of her unborn child -- for political gain and giving them deadly misinformation in the process.
She doesn't trust women to know that abortion bans do not prohibit treatment for miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies.
Speaking of actual women's rights, has Kamala spoken out about the Biden administration's rewrite of Title IX? One that actually threatens the rights of women and girls? The rewrite is currently being challenged in 26 states went into full effect on August 1, and it gives men who identify as women access to women's spaces, women's sports and puts the safety of women and girls at risk. It also penalizes women who say 'trans women' are men, claiming they're guilty of harrassment. Does Kamala trust women when they say men like Will ('Lia') Thomas are actually men and that we're uncomfortable changing in front of him? Or that it's unfair our sisters and daughters lose athletic opportunities and records because of a man? Nope. In fact, her last posts referencing Title IX on the VP X account dates back to June 2022, and 2019 on her Kamala Harris account.
In 2021, Kamala touted the Biden administration's vaccine requirements -- ones he tried to use OSHA to force on every worker in the country. Mandates that could have very well cost women their jobs. Did Kamala listen to women who didn't want to get the vaccine? To the women who were concerned about its impact on their pregnancies and menstrual cycles? Was the choice to get the vaccine (or not) left up to a woman and her doctor? No, it wasn't. Kamala Harris didn't trust women to make this choice about their bodies and their healthcare.
Nor does she trust us to purchase the private insurance plans we deem best for ourselves and our families.
What about protecting our bodies and our loved ones from dangerous criminals? Kamala doesn't trust women there, either. She's on record supporting bans of 'assault weapons' and other gun control measures, and went so far as to advocate for an Australian-style gun confiscation program. She doesn't trust women to choose guns to protect themselves and their families.
As to the future, women are surely half of the respondents to multiple polls and surveys that list inflation and the economy as their biggest concerns this election cycle. Two-thirds of voters repeatedly list those issues and 39% of adults worry about paying their bills, but Kamala? She's maybe going to roll out her economic plan later this week. It'll probably mention something about 'illegal price gouging' and capping rents (which mean food and housing shortages), and she might steal another idea or two from Donald Trump. Women are concerned about this because this is our future: how we feed our kids, keep a roof over our heads, and plan for things like college.
Does Kamala trust us when we say this is our concern?
Nah.
All she trusts us to do is believe her shameless pandering on abortion. To trust her when she tells us our number one priority should be whether or not we get to kill our children in the womb.
Kamala Harris doesn't trust women. And women have no reason to trust her.
