Hillary Clinton is launching a limited podcast series with Kara Swisher called High Stakes, and they’re promising to dig into the issues and ideas behind this fall’s midterms, from AI to Gen Z.
I heard the announcement and immediately wondered who asked for this.
Clinton spent years as secretary of state, a senator, and a presidential nominee, and the results of those years are still sitting right there in the public record. She sucks. It's on the RECORD that she sucks.
Now she’s teaming up with Swisher for another round of explaining the world to everyone else, as if the last decade of politics, technology, and culture somehow requires her particular framing. The pitch is that they will explore the big topics driving the elections.
Fine.
Except Clinton’s own track record on those topics has rarely involved the kind of clear-eyed analysis people claim to want from a podcast.

Voters will decide the midterms based on what they see happening in their own lives, not on a limited series hosted by a former nominee and a media figure. Clinton can talk about AI and Gen Z all she wants. The fact that she still expects an audience for it says more about the media environment than it does about any sudden demand for her take on the issues.
The series will air, people will listen or they won’t, and the actual election will move forward either way.
