I’ve seen a lot of charts in my day, but this one from Lee Kuan Yimby is straight-up brutal. It shows Democrats’ pride in America absolutely cratering over the last decade and a half, while Republicans stay rock-solid no matter which party is in charge.
We’re talking a massive, embarrassing drop-off in the number of Dems who say they’re proud to be American.
This isn’t some minor polling blip.
Oh sure, we didn't like Obama and thought Biden was a walking, talking disaster, but we still loved our country, regardless.
It seems Democrats only love America, that they only take pride in her, when THEY are in charge of her. That sort of misses the point of being an American, don't you think? Check this out:

It’s almost impressive how consistent the decline has been. You can practically trace the timeline to when identity politics and “America is systemically evil” became the dominant messaging on the left. Once you start telling your own voters that the country is irredeemably racist, sexist, and built on oppression, it’s no surprise they stop feeling proud of it. Why would they?
Republicans, on the other hand, still believe in the American experiment. We see the flaws, sure, but we also see the greatness, the opportunity, and the fact that this is still the best damn country on Earth. That’s why our numbers barely budge.
Democrats should be embarrassed by this chart. It’s not a good look when your base is less proud of America than ever before while the other side is holding steady. It tells you everything you need to know about which party still believes in this country and which one has basically given up on it.
Patriotism isn’t supposed to be conditional on your team being in power. But for a whole lot of Democrats these days, it apparently is.
