I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw Mehdi Hasan’s latest meltdown on X.
Here we are, fresh off yet another assassination attempt on President Trump - this time at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner - and the left’s favorite scold is out here lecturing us about comedy and free speech.
Classic.
Let’s back up. Last week, Jimmy Kimmel did one of his usual 'edgy' bits on his show, cracking that Melania Trump had 'a glow like an expectant widow.' Cute, right? A light roast about the age gap, he later claimed. Then, days later, a gunman tries to breach security at the actual dinner and take out the president. Again. For the third time.
Suddenly, the joke doesn’t land quite the same way. Melania calls it out as hateful garbage that stokes real violence. Trump demands ABC fire the guy. And Hasan? He jumps in to declare that anyone offended by this is a 'snowflake moron' who just doesn’t get comedy or the First Amendment.

This is the same Mehdi Hasan who once stormed off a CNN set live on air because Ryan Girdusky made a throwaway pager joke about him. The same guy who celebrated when that joke got Girdusky banned from the network. The same guy who’s spent years demanding 'hate speech' carve-outs while insisting he’s some free-speech warrior—until the joke’s on him. Now he’s clutching pearls because Trump won’t let late-night 'humor' wish widowhood on his wife right before another nut tries to make it happen?
Spare me.
