While scrolling through the madness that IS X these days, Nick Shirley's post stopped me cold.
You know that feeling you get when you read something so brazen it feels like a dare? Yeah. California Democrats just introduced AB 2624, and if it passes, investigative journalists like Nick (and our sister site RedStates Jennifer Van Laar) could face misdemeanors, ten-thousand-dollar fines, jail time, and forced content takedowns simply for doing their jobs.
I'm not entirely sure how anyone would think this is constitutional in ANY WAY, but let's not pretend Democrats give a single damn about the Constitution.
See California.
See Virginia.
California is trying to pass a bill that would criminalize investigative journalism with misdemeanors, $10,000 fines, imprisonment, and content takedown.

The proposed bill is titled AB 2624 and was made after I exposed mass fraud by immigrant groups in America.

Post continues:
... government-funded entities like the Somali “Learing” Daycare centers would be protected from being exposed if they operated inside California.
The enemy truly is within. When our politicians would rather protect fraudsters and illegal migrants, it’s time for us to stand up or face mass oppression from the traitors who “rule” over us.
The sponsor? Assemblymember Mia Bonta—wife of Attorney General Rob Bonta, because of course she is. These people don’t even pretend anymore. The bill is dressed up pretty, all “protecting providers from harassment,” but everyone with eyes knows the real target: guys like Nick who keep shining flashlights into the dark corners where public money disappears into private pockets. Somali learning centers, healthcare outfits, you name it—entities swimming in government grants suddenly get shield-wall status while the rest of us get lectured about “democracy.”
UPDATE: The legislator who proposed this bill is Mia Bonta, the wife of Attorney General Rob Bonta.

The Attorney General of California's wife is trying to silence me and other journalists who are exposing fraud.
Are your donors mad they are being exposed? pic.twitter.com/xTsFATZLiZ
As managing editor here at Twitchy, I’ve watched conservatives get canceled, demonetized, and doxxed for years. Now they want to write it into California law. The First Amendment isn’t a suggestion, folks. It’s the reason we can call out the crooks in the first place.
Because here’s the thing: the more they try to muzzle the truth-tellers, the louder the rest of us get. Smile sweetly, keep the receipts, and never stop watching the watchdogs who forgot who they work for. The enemy isn’t at the border this time - it’s sitting in a state capitol wearing a power suit and a smug little grin.
And we see you.
