Kamala Harris has never been a very likable person. I remember when she first attempted to run for president in 2020, and her own state didn't even support her efforts in the primary. Granted, she didn't drop out as quickly as Eric Swalwell (boy, was HE a disaster), but it was still pretty embarrassing that she was THAT unpopular. I even remember how shocked people were when Joe Biden picked her for his VP; as you may or may not remember, she very openly accused him of being a racist.
Guess if the racist was willing to give her an important and powerful job, she could overlook it?
Yeah, it was weird.
Not to mention, Biden was very open about why he picked Kamala. It wasn't her qualifications, it wasn't her background, it wasn't her ability to deliver votes that Democrats wouldn't get anyway. No, no, it was because of her skin color and sex, although up until that point she had gone back and forth about being a black woman or an Indian woman. Whichever benefited her most at the time.
And I know, we're not supposed to talk about how she got her start (Willie Brown), but we're all thinking it.
She's not a great person in general, so when she openly expressed her bigotry about Pete Buttigieg, I wasn't at all surprised. Kamala has never struck me as someone who genuinely cares about the value or qualifications of others, but only about what they can do for her, how she can benefit from them. Buttigieg wasn't beneficial to her ticket, so she chose super-manly Tim Walz, which was even dumber, but I digress.
Yes, her own identity politics played a part in tanking her ticket; although, if we're being honest, I'm not sure even Buttigieg could have helped her odds, because even her own party didn't choose her. The shadow government behind Joe Biden did.
Funny how karma always finds a way, you know?
