Abigail Spanberger and Gavin Newsom have two things in common. Both desperately want to be President, and both are also vying for the title of "Worst Governor in America."
Granted, Newsom has quite a head start with his long record of mismanagement, corruption, and failure in California. Spanberger, by contrast, has less than a year in office, but that's not stopping her from doing her darnedest to catch up to Newsom.
She and Virginia Democrats have unleashed a torrent of new tax proposals for the Commonwealth, which could result in Virginia having the highest tax rate in the nation; she infamously backed an unconstitutional gerrymandering proposal (thankfully struck down) after campaigning on her opposition to redistricting; and she insulted the Gold Star families of victims murdered by Islamic terrorists on 9/11.
She's already the most unpopular governor in modern Virginia history, based on these and many other epic fails and broken promises in 2026. But what Virginians hate most about her administration is her immigration policy, which has already wreaked disaster on the state and citizens she is supposed to serve.
Last night, The New York Post reported on yet another illegal alien murderer in Virginia, a tragic but entirely predictable result of Spanberger's refusal to cooperate with ICE.

Anger is boiling over at Virginia Democratic Gov. Abigail Spanberger and sanctuary-friendly politicians over “out of control” killings in the state after US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) asked the state not to allow the release of yet another illegal immigrant charged with carrying out a stabbing spree.
ICE sent a request to Spanberger and “her fellow sanctuary politicians” not to release Mexican illegal immigrant Freddi Chigo Mil following his arrest for allegedly stabbing two women on the streets of Staunton, Virginia, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Police responding to the incident found Mil at the scene along with two stabbed women, one of whom was pronounced dead while the other was transported to a local hospital.
Jennifer Harrison, executive director of the victim advocacy organization Victims’ Rights Reform Council, told Fox News Digital that “everything is out of control in these upside-down jurisdictions run by politicians like Spanberger who call themselves ‘moderate Democrats’ while implementing policies that put criminals ahead of victims and public safety.”
Harrison posed the question: “How much blood has to be spilled in our streets before elected officials wake up and change course?”
“We have reached a point where the federal government has to ask state and local officials not to release dangerous illegal immigrants back into American communities. Think about how insane that is,” Harrison continued.
Harrison was not alone in her fury about the latest criminal that ICE is being forced to file a detainer concerning and beg the governor not to release him.

We didn't even mention Spanberger's efforts to deny Virginians their Second Amendment rights in the laundry list above, but she's trying to do that as well. Fortunately, many law enforcement officials are refusing to comply.

The criminal in this story, Mexican illegal immigrant Freddi Chigo Mil, was charged with his crime at the end of August. It is the 22nd case of illegal alien violent crime in Virginia in 2026. In Fairfax County alone, home to Soros DA Steve Descano, violent crime has increased by more than 92 percent this year, with illegals accounting for at least 75 percent of that increase.

That might help, if not for the fact that her Lieutenant Governor, Ghazala Hashmi, is an open supporter of Islamic terrorists. Not to mention her Attorney General, Jay "Two Bullets" Jones.
Put those three together, and it adds up to three more horrific years for Virginia.
After which time, Spanberger might indeed eclipse Newsom as America's worst governor.
