As a proud Virginian who's spent years watching our Commonwealth shift under the weight of Northern Virginia's ugliness, I couldn't help but reflect on a recent call for unity AFTER NOVA just wiped out the majority of the state's representation.
You know the one - poetic words about connecting Arlington National Cemetery to the hills of Appalachia, the Chesapeake shores to the Shenandoah bends. It's a beautiful vision on paper.
But after what just happened at the polls, it lands like a gentle plea from the victors to the vanquished: 'Now that we've secured our power, let's all come together.'
The polarization is not good for Virginia

All parts of the Commonwealth are connected
From the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery to the hills of Appalachia
From the shores of the Chesapeake to the bends of the Shenandoah
Let us work to come together
Polarization isn't ideal, sure. But it's not some mysterious fog that descended equally on everyone. It's the direct result of urban priorities steamrolling everyone else. When one region dominates redistricting fights, ballot measures, and legislative power plays, the folks in the hinterlands feel it in their daily lives - from gun rights erosion to skyrocketing costs driven by unchecked growth.
Telling them to 'come together' with people who hate them right after a vote that many see as disenfranchising reads less like reconciliation and more like 'please don't fight back.'
And sorry, not sorry, we are fighting back.
You’ve radicalized a very large constituency, including independents like myself.

The gloating & disrespect to half the state is a genie that can’t be put back in the bottle.
Like a dog chasing a car, you are not prepared for what comes next.
Buckle up.
Absolutely not. I will not "come together" with reprehensible neo-marxists. I will not accept foreigners from Bangladesh doing away with rights written by the Founding Fathers. Better we burn the place down than to let them win.

True unity doesn't come from eloquent social media posts. It comes from respecting the full diversity of Virginia—not just the parts that vote blue. It means listening to coal country concerns alongside tech corridor ambitions. It requires humility from winners, not lectures. As someone who's fought in the trenches of conservative media, I believe in the Virginia Way: rugged individualism mixed with neighborly respect. But that only works when every corner of the Commonwealth feels seen.
And Virginia Democrats just proved they don't want anything to do with seeing anyone who disagrees with them, so excuse me if I'm not overly anxious to unite with a bunch of a-holes who just completely nuked my representation.
Pass, bro.
