Mehdi Hasan First Out of the Gate to Dance on Dick Cheney's Grave (Peeps Agreeing With Him Shocked Me)

Meme

I was already expecting a fairly horrible day on social media, with multiple elections today. Still, when I woke up and saw that Dick Cheney had passed away, I figured it was going to be even worse than I expected. Please note that I realize social media being horrible is my bread and butter in my day job; that doesn't mean I always want to read the awful, especially when I'm stressing about what an Abigail Spanberger governorship could do to my Commonwealth ...

So when I saw Mehdi Hasan crap all over Cheney in death, I was hardly surprised.

If anyone is going to be an a-hole on X after someone dies on the Right, it's this guy.

See for yourselves:

Even if you do or do not agree with Cheney, most people on the Right are pretty good about being respectful when someone dies, even if they are on the Left. That being said, with Cheney, that has not been the case. Now, do I think the people agreeing with Hasan are conservatives? No. Do I think they're populists who vote with Republicans a lot, though? Yes. And this troubles me, especially with everything we've been seeing between the pro-Fuentes faction and Fuentes-sucks factions on the Right.

I'm having one of those Principal Skinner moments, wondering whether these people are out of touch or if it's me.

It's rare that I sit back and read posts from people with whom I probably agree 80% of the time, pondering what has happened that we've landed here. I get it, Cheney was an unbearable Never Trumper at the end, just like his daughter. But even after he came out and endorsed Kamala Harris, I still didn't associate him with the Democrats. More like a spoiled Republican who isn't used to not getting his way.

Again, like his daughter.

What is happening on the Right? Am I overthinking? Why is the sky blue?

These are the questions that keep me up at night.

Heh.
