As Twitchy reported this evening, Bari Weiss of The Free Press made her official announcement today that she is now the editor-in-chief at CBS News.
She also sent a letter to the entire news division with her 10 commandments for journalistic values and honest and ethical reporting that she expects to see at the network.

That all seems pretty reasonable to me, but I am a sane person, like Twitchy readers are.
At CBS? It was time to panic. One CBS reporter allegedly even went so far as to say that a vomit emoji was insufficient to capture his emotions.
That's a self-proclaimed journalist. Who relies on emojis to express himself.
Yeah, let that sink in.
Meanwhile, over at Salon, they were doing Salon things.

Wow. The lack of self-awareness required to even write that headline, let alone publish it, is mind-boggling.
Hilariously, everyone's favorite rotten, fetid potato, Brian Stelter, reacted to the memo with a question that sums up everything that is wrong with the legacy media today.
CBS News desperately needs someone to supercharge its digital strategy. Maybe The Free Press can help. But staffers reading this morning's memos are left to wonder: What exactly do the new bosses think we're doing wrong?
— Brian Stelter (@brianstelter) October 6, 2025
What are they doing wrong? Well, golly. Let me think about that.
How long have you got, Spud?
Let's start with the fact that 60 Minutes just had to pay Donald Trump millions of dollars for doctoring an interview with Kamala Harris just to make her sound like she has a double-digit IQ. This is what is known, in journalistic circles, as election interference.
Or how about Margaret Brennan using her role as a debate moderator to interrupt and argue with JD Vance? He was right and she was wrong, by the way, not that it matters. That isn't a moderator's job.
Maybe it was CBS firing the only real reporter they had, Catherine Herridge, in 2024 for honestly and accurately reporting about the Robert Hur investigation of Joe Biden?
I could go on, but you get the idea. Most of these incidents are from just the past year or two.
If I go back over the last decade or two, the list is nigh endless. With every issue, from 'climate change' to 'trans kids' to 'gun violence,' CBS News could always be counted on to push the leftist propaganda and never once provide fair coverage or even an independent point of view, let alone a conservative one.
Most recently, just one day -- ONE DAY -- after Charlie Kirk was assassinated, CBS Mornings host Nate Burleson went on his show to blame Republican rhetoric for the shooting.
Oh, as long as I'm on the subject of Nate Burleson? He's an ex-football player, not a journalist. That might be something else Bari Weiss might want to look into. And Gayle King, for good measure, too, whose only claim to fame is that Oprah knows her.
What are they doing wrong, Stelter? Seriously?
The very question itself is the reason why legacy media is dead. And the funniest part is that Stelter doesn't even realize it.

Yes, I laughed, too.
Frequent factual errors and almost comical levels of bias.

Whew. That's a pretty long list. And yet, even that is not comprehensive.
That's how bad CBS News has been for YEARS.
Probably nothing. They’re probably fine and have nothing to learn from a media entity that built itself from scratch in a handful of years and enticed people to pay actual money for it. https://t.co/wzF69pNAnr

LOL.
Weiss was run out of The New York Times on a rail for refusing to become a stenographer for leftist agitprop. She built The Free Press up from nothing into one of the leading new media organizations in the country.
And she did it in the relative blink of an eye.
Sure, someone like the slithery, smarmy Scott Pelley probably has nothing to learn from her.
If they can't figure that out, probably should fire them and find people more in touch with reality. https://t.co/yBmgWY7bwo

This will be job number one for Weiss. And I am fairly certain that there are a LOT of people at CBS who she is going to find are not fit to continue working in news media.
But Starbucks is always hiring.
Which is great news for another soon-to-be ex-CBS employee, Stephen Colbert.
