Yesterday was a pretty tumultuous one on X after the tragic killing of director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, made all the more gruesome by the fact that the prime suspect appears to be their son.
While Reiner was known for posting some pretty vile things on social media, particularly about Donald Trump, but also about anyone who voted for him, most conservatives showed their humanity by posting prayers and fond remembrances of Reiner's film work. Leftists like actor Jeremy London tried to goad conservatives into being as crass as he is, but it didn't work.
That changed yesterday afternoon when President Trump posted his reaction to Reiner's death on Truth Social. Let's just say that Trump did not have an overabundance of sympathy for the man who bitterly hated him.

This sparked a pretty heated conversation on the right. Many conservatives thought that this was beneath the President, and he should have shown more grace. On the other hand, some reminded others about the things that Reiner has said about Trump over recent years, and wondered if any of us would have been charitable to someone who repeatedly and publicly called for us to be destroyed.
If anyone wants to know why Trump posted what he posted about Rob Reiner take a look at this 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 pic.twitter.com/wRS7rSzdge

That's some pretty vile stuff right there. Twitchy readers don't need a reminder of how hateful Reiner was to Trump and his supporters. We've featured him in articles more times than I can count.
For my part, I tried to stay out of the fray, mainly because I felt both ways about it. Trump's post was not nice, not even a little bit. But he wasn't 'celebrating' Reiner's murder. He called it sad and wished them a peaceful rest. But he made it very clear that he didn't like the man, a point he echoed when asked about it later in the day. I would hope that I would embrace my better angels in such a situation, though I have been fortunate enough not to have celebrities call for me to be imprisoned or killed (that I know of, anyway).
But I could understand how Trump felt. Perhaps no prominent figure on X, with the possible exception of Stephen King, hates Trump as much as Reiner did. He was Patient Zero for Trump Derangement Syndrome. Would I show more grace than Trump did? I hope so, but I can't say for sure that I would.
And it wasn't that long ago that Trump admitted to the entire nation that he was a flawed Christian. At Charlie Kirk's memorial service, he acknowledged that he does not embrace his enemies the way Kirk did. And he knew that Kirk didn't approve of that. But at least he was honest.
But while I may wrestle with this question, and happily talk about it, argue about it, and debate it with other conservatives, here is not what is going to happen:
I will NOT allow the left to lecture me -- or anyone else on the right -- about having the 'moral high ground' just because the President didn't show more humility.
Not now. Not ever again. They will NEVER lecture me.
No one will be surprised at who some of the usual suspects were on the left who tried to 'dunk' on MAGA after Trump's post. Some of the worst people in the world and Twitchy Hall of Shame members.
Our evil, mentally ill president, celebrates the murder of Rob Reiner

He - and all who enable him - will eventually go to hell. I pity them all. pic.twitter.com/PSVUI8bDhU
Of course, Olbermann tops the list.
But the irony of him opening his mouth after what he posted about Charlie Kirk is pretty rich.
This you? pic.twitter.com/k1dcVtyoei

Yeah, he can take ALL the seats.
Leftist engagement farmer Brian Krassenstein also tried to claim moral superiority.
BREAKING: This is the most disgusting Post Donald Trump has ever made.
— Brian Krassenstein (@krassenstein) December 15, 2025
He claims that Rob Reiner was killed "due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME"
Imagine… pic.twitter.com/u91iOKpePz
Yes, just imagine if Krassenstein had posted his despicable fantasies about assassinating Trump.
Oh, wait ...
.@krassenstein is advocating for somebody to kill Trump. Why is he still on this app? pic.twitter.com/41KIwGjiXG
— Buzz Patterson (@BuzzPatterson) November 30, 2025
That 'conversation' never happened. It was just his way of saying he wanted someone to kill Trump without getting his account suspended.
Donald Trump is a disturbed, sick, narcissistic, evil, sack of s***. Rob Reiner was a better man than he’ll ever be. pic.twitter.com/CW8CO0ktR7

Harry Sisson is almost too stupid to include here, but he wants everyone to take him seriously.
I wonder if he wanted to be taken seriously when he said this:
But you're so nice?

****. pic.twitter.com/ix0nl52Noi
The same noxious bile was posted by countless accounts on the left yesterday.
And they all have one thing in common: Hypocrisy.
This isn't just about Charlie Kirk. Yes, the left called him a hateful racist (with no basis) and said he deserved what happened to him. They mocked his assassination at their 'No Kings' rallies. They wore bloody 'Freedom' t-shirts for Halloween. And they continue to defame his widow, Erika.
It's bigger than just that.
It's not even about Trump, even though many on the left either wished the assassination attempts against him had succeeded (or disgraced the memory of Corey Comperatore by claiming the Butler shooting was 'staged'). Just this year, Tim Walz openly wished for the day Trump was dead. And we all remember the actors and celebrities who have fantasized about killing him over the past decade.
It's bigger than just that.
Letists in America applaud every time an innocent child is killed through abortion. They weren't always that way, at least not openly, but they are now. Leftists in America tore down pictures of Israeli children taken hostage after October 7, and they defended openly pro-Hamas extremists on college campuses. Leftists in America cheer the mutilation of young children in the name of 'gender ideology.' Leftists in America mock Christians for prayerful mourning whenever children are killed by those same violent trans activists. Leftists in America constantly take the side of illegal alien criminals over the women they murder, like Jocelyn Nungaray, Laken Riley, and Rachel Morin (just to name a few). And, of course, leftists in America cheer for 'fiery but mostly peaceful' riots where Americans and federal agents are attacked, and businesses burn.
That these people would try to claim the moral high ground about ANYTHING isn't just a joke, it's an insult. A deliberate one.
If conservatives want to argue about Trump's insensitive post, I have no problem with that. I even encourage it, as long as we all remember that we're still on the same side after this latest dustup dies down. As I noted, I agree with both arguments, and there is never anything wrong with healthy, good-faith debates.
But I will never allow anyone on the left, from the lowest sock puppet account to 'influencers' to celebrities to elected officials like the Seditious Six to lecture me.
Because I have seen what they cheer for. We have all seen what they cheer for.
Their boos mean LESS than nothing.
