Muppet Madness! Check Out What Will -- and Will NOT -- Get You Arrested In the UK

Twitchy

It's definitely time to re-evaluate the 'special relationship' between the United States and Oceania ... err ... the United Kingdom.

In August, I thought the UK could not sink any lower after they arrested a man for declaring his love for bacon

I was wrong.

I'm not sure if Miss Piggy took offense at the bacon remark and got involved here or not, but now, the police in Great Britain are arresting people for calling someone a muppet.

No, I am not kidding.

As usual with videos like these, I begin with a skeptical eye and wonder if something else might have happened. But as the police themselves stated, yes, they are charging a man simply because he called someone Kermit the Frog.

What in the Fraggle Rock is happening to the UK?

And that officer wasn't even the person he called a muppet!

(Though, come on. He should have. He was already being arrested, after all. And the resemblance is pretty uncanny.)

Oh, but that's not all. The police can also throw you in the Tower of London simply because something you shared -- not wrote, mind you, but shared -- caused anyone 'anxiety.'

I have many questions.

How do they even verify the alleged 'anxiety'? Is there some kind of British anxiety gauge that I haven't heard about? And does it use the metric system or that weird 'stones' measurement that Brits use to weigh things?

Most importantly, does the offender's sentence correspond with the size of the offendee's SSRI prescription?

This is what happens in every country without a First Amendment to protect free speech and without a Second Amendment to protect the First Amendment.

It is estimated that British police are arresting 30 speech criminals PER DAY. And they have the nerve to get mad at JD Vance for telling them they have a crisis of censorship?

At this rate, the entire country -- at least the ones who are there legally -- will be locked up soon, which may be part of the plan.

But take heart, Britain. Not everyone is getting handcuffed. For instance, did you know that you are allowed to assault someone on the head with ice cream and walk free? The police won't even detain you for questioning. They won't even try to look for you.

At least, that's what happens if you hit Billboard Chris with ice cream for having the audacity to claim that children cannot consent to gender sterilization and mutilation (even though that is no longer legal in the UK) or for saying that men are not women (even though the UK's Supreme Court recently acknowledged the truth of that statement). Watch:

... more than 300 times and I knew within seconds they weren’t going to do a thing about it.

They said a few times they would go find him with me after I gave my details and showed them the video evidence, but of course that was a lie, so I went to go find him myself.

I was then surrounded by an angry mob demanding I condemn Israel.

Naturally, police removed me. That whole scene would have been avoided if they did their job and arrested the ice cream perp.

Just another day telling the truth in a world gone mad.

Thankfully, Chris did not have to go to the emergency room after that assault. Because Britain's National Health Service is almost as bad as healthcare in Cuba.

All kidding aside, of course, Billboard Chris was not injured, but that doesn't mean he wasn't physically assaulted. The police's solution? Tell him that he's the problem.

I'm surprised he didn't get arrested for talking back to the police. If you have 25 minutes to spare, Chris's commentary throughout the video is priceless.

That was one of the best lines.

Sadly, neither what police in the UK will arrest you for, nor what they will NOT arrest you for, will surprise a single person reading this article.

The question is, how do we keep a special relationship with -- how do we even stay allied with -- a country that not only wants to punish speech, but seems to be rapidly descending into a caliphate, which its leaders are welcoming?

It's not that we don't have to fight those same battles against equally horrible people and ideologies in the United States. Of course, we do. But last year, Americans saw what the left wanted to do to the country, what they had been doing for the prior four years, and roundly rejected it. In the UK's 2024 election, they chose poorly and stupidly.

There is still a sliver of hope for the United Kingdom. It's in Nigel Farage and the Reform Party. It is in the 'Raise the Colours' movement. It is in Lola, the Young Queen of Scots.

But if those people and movements are not successful, and quickly, there is no hope for the UK. And the US needs to be prepared to recognize that.

When The Sex Pistols wrote 'God Save the Queen' in 1977, I'll bet they never thought the lyrics to that song would turn out so true, so quickly:

'There is no future / In England's dreaming
No future / No future / No future for you
No future / No future / No future for me.'

I never thought of Johnny Rotten as a prophet, but darn if he didn't call it.
