DSA Dial-Up: Dem Michigan Senate Hopeful Abdul El-Sayed Says Obama Called, May Campaign for Him

Robin Buckson/Detroit News via AP, Pool

Michigan Democrat senatorial hopeful Abdul El-Sayed, whose full name is Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed, says he got a phone call from former President Barack Hussein Obama. Yes, he used Obama's full name. The Democratic Socialist of America (DSA) member is saying Obama’s first, middle, and last name, something that Democrats freaked out about in the past.

El-Sayed had a phone call with Obama; says he hopes they campaign together.

"I watched...Barack Hussein Obama run for and win the presidency."

"I was grateful for his advice…I hope that we get to campaign together."

Telling that El-Sayed makes sure to emphasize Obama's full name here for a Michigan statewide race.

We can guess why that’s so important based on Michigan’s demographics. Here’s El-Sayed on NBC’s Meet the Press with Kristen Welker. (WATCH)

They certainly want to recreate that Obama vibe from 2007.

El-Sayed is young, socialist, radical, and Muslim. Democrat leadership would love to market him as Obama’s Second Coming.

Democrats never use his middle name, except to call Republicans racist for mentioning it.

El-Sayed and his campaign obviously assessed that the demographics in Michigan now make mentioning it a positive.

Will be curious if this becomes a regular thing should they campaign together.

An El-Sayed and Obama team-up would signal that the radical transformation of the Democrat Party that started under the former president is complete.

Posters find it interesting that Obama’s full name, which was controversial, is now considered a plus when campaigning.

Now you’re likely to be called an Islamophobe for not saying it.

Commenters say they could tell Welker wasn’t talking to a Republican.

Welker will always be easier on her fellow Democrats, even if they’re DSA members.

Posters say Obama is probably celebrating what the Democrat Party is morphing into.

Destroy America? ‘Yes we can!’
