Yesterday, former federal prosecutor and current cable news legal analyst Renato Mariotti offered up a very interesting (read: completely nutty) take on Hunter Biden's plea agreement. Here it is again in case you missed it:

That tweet was a hot mess on every level. Just an absolute disaster. And Mariotti had to have known that, right? Right? Surely he can't actually believe in his heart and in his mind that people hardly ever get charged for tax fraud or that Hunter Biden's punishment is relatively harsh, right? Right?
Well, I'm actually not so sure it's an act. Because on CNN this morning, Mariotti actually doubled down on the idea that Hunter didn't get off easy for all those alleged crimes, including some very, very serious ones:

For being a former federal prosecutor, Renato Mariotti sure does seem unfamiliar with a lot of the types of charges that have been brought against Hunter Biden. That seems a bit strange to us. But then, I'm not a federal prosecutor myself, former or otherwise, so what the hell do I know anyway?

And *he* bases that on absolutely nothing but the fact that he likes Joe Biden and would rather pretend that the plea agreement doesn't reek of shameless corruption than acknowledge that this is all at least as bad as it looks and probably way worse than that.
