Dem Sen. Jon Ossoff's statement on attempted assassination of Brett Kavanaugh is the one *every* Dem should have made

If you dig through Twitchy’s archives, you’re going to have a lot of trouble finding any posts commending Georgia Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff for, well, anything. He has a distinguished record of getting on our nerves — and on the nerves of a lot of other people. And make no mistake: he’s earned that record.

But despite our issues with Ossoff, we are also firm believers in giving credit where credit is due (yes, even when it comes to Democrats). And we firmly believe that Ossoff deserves credit for his response to the attempted assassination of conservative Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Here’s what Ossoff had to say:

After news broke of the assassination attempt, Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin attempted to both-sides it. And as far as we know, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has not taken any accountability for his own huge role in encouraging violent extremism against conservative Supreme Court Justices.

But Ossoff didn’t clam up. He didn’t try to equivocate. He very clearly and explicitly condemned the attempt on Brett Kavanaugh’s life and didn’t try to minimize or politicize it the way others have.

Every single politician should have responded the same way, without hesitation.

Ossoff may privately despise Brett Kavanaugh, but he did the right thing here.

We’ll take what we can get. Thank you, Senator Ossoff.
