The Hill, Kelly, who has spent years correctly roasting the Left’s worst impulses, just went full chaos gremlin on her show and declared she is rooting for the former CNN host to jump into the 2028 race. “OK, I’m going to shock you,” she said. “I think he should do it.” Then she argued a lifetime of journalism is not a dealbreaker and that Lemon could “match wits” against AOC just fine.

She even questioned whether Kamala Harris or Joe Biden were meaningfully smarter than him. 

I get the bit. Pointing out that the Democrat bench is so thin a guy best known for on-air meltdowns and getting fired could theoretically hang with them is comedy. But encouraging it? Rooting for it? That’s where Megyn lost the plot. 

Don Lemon is not some underrated policy genius waiting in the wings. He is a cable-news personality who spent years lecturing the country from a network that eventually showed him the door. He has floated running before, complete with the usual “first Black and gay president” framing, and he faces federal civil rights and conspiracy charges tied to his coverage of anti-ICE protests in Minnesota. This is the guy we are supposed to take seriously as a presidential contender because… journalism? 

Kelly is smart enough to know better. 

At least, she used to be.
