The fundraising pitch practically writes itself: finally, the real thing is here… and the old “Pocahontas” story just got a quiet but very public reality check.

And just like that, the progressive left’s favorite identity-politics talking point got an awkward reality check from one of its own. When the real Native candidate has to remind donors that the Senate has never seated an actual Native woman, it tends to make all those years of DNA tests, family recipes, and “Pocahontas” nicknames look a little less like history and a lot more like a punchline.
