Oh, look. Aaron Rupar is having a normal one.
Well, a normal one for him. Just like Hollywood Twitter, several self-important media types are very upset that Elon Musk doesn’t care enough about them to pay for their blue checkmarks. Surely even he knows how important they are to Twitter … or something.
Heh.
Rupar is well, acting like Rupar.
So Elon's new gambit to make life hard for folks like me is blocking Substack links from generating thumbnails. I'm going to take this chance to ask y'all to sign up for my newsletter, Public Notice. You'll like it & paid subs keep me going. Click link! 👇 https://t.co/g8kkcyG2ok

So we didn’t want to include this since he’s linking to his sad little substack but the paranoia and ranting is just too funny. YES, IT’S ALL ABOUT MAKING LIFE HARD FOR YOU, AARON.
But wait, there’s more.
It really sunk in for me today that Elon is trying to be Trump. A chaos agent with an endless thirst for attention and validation. The grievances. The narcissism. The incessant punching down and bigotry. The shady business connections. It's the same toxic brew.
— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) April 20, 2023
Leave it to Rupar to try and find a way to make this about Trump.
It’s all a plot!
I am no longer seeing legacy folks in my verified notifications tab, FWIW. Just Twitter Blues
— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) April 21, 2023
And you know, he’s far too important to bother with anyone who isn’t ‘legacy.’

See what pre-Musk Twitter did? They turned verification into a status. All they had to do was leave it as a real verification process where people were willing to send in their documentation and prove who they were, if they had, we wouldn’t be having this conversation right now. But OH NO, Twitter used verification to support and praise people who they agreed with politically and to punish those they disagreed with. Twitter created one of the most self-serving, sanctimonious, privileged class of people on the Internet.
Truth hurts.
these brain geniuses are so close to figuring out the verification system as it existed before Elon ruined it lol https://t.co/gxoKbodkYt
— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) April 21, 2023
No, pre-Musk Twitter ruined it. They made it a status symbol.
Brain genius.
It is obviously past time for this place to die. The problem is that none of the alternative platforms have the right combination of scale and features to be a suitable replacement. IMO the closest is Mastodon, though the user base still seems very niche.
— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) April 20, 2023
Oh, and he also thinks Twitter should die BUT gosh, there just aren’t any other platforms like it.
Welp, my notifications are impossible to sift through now, which is going to make interacting with folks much more difficult.
— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) April 20, 2023
On and on and on.
What a whiny, sad little man.
Show us on the Twitter doll where Elon hurt you, Aaron.
