My most PC opinion is that "tribalism" is an offensive term that does a (usually unintentional) disservice to American Indian tribes, and gains its power from the implicit idea that tribes (and thus American Indians) are irrational or incapable of thinking outside their group.

I understand US connotation of what you’re saying. But this is actually a term and concept in broad use by people outside US who are not alluding to Native Amer tribes but to human group-think-ism

Very much appreciate the sincere effort to be sensitive but tribe is a much more expansive term that refers to a lot more than First Nations in the Americas. Plus, in-groupism doesn’t have the same ring to it! ?
