As Twitchy recently reported, Rep. Ro Khanna, the new face of the Democratic Party, challenged Elon Musk to a debate after Musk had said he'd had enough of Khanna and it was time to sue. Khanna was running around saying that Musk had to answer for the 4.5 million children "sentenced to death" by DOGE cuts.
A day later, Atlantic contributing editor Norman Ornstein claimed that 1 million people, half of them children, had died because of the dismantling of the Democrat slush fund known as USAID. So which is it? Four and a half million, or half a million?
But wait, there's more! The Lancet, "the world's top medical journal" (once), has done a study estimating that Musk will be responsible for 14 million deaths by the year 2030.
Wow. A Lancet study says Elon Musk will have killed 14 million people by 2030. Lancet is the world's top medical journal. https://t.co/K5hHKceoXc

So Khanna got his numbers from a study in The Lancet. The Lancet is also where NBC News got its story that global heat deaths are projected to increase by 370 percent if action is not taken to limit the effects of global warming.
The world's top medical journal also called women "bodies with vaginas" in its cover story on "the cultural movement against menstrual shame and #PeriodPoverty."
Other news outlets picked up on the study when it was published last June.
#UPDATE More than 14 million of the world's most vulnerable people could die because of the Trump administration's dismantling of US foreign aid, a study in the Lancet journal projected Tuesday.

Wow. So Lancet is now a joke & should be mocked 24/7. Good to know 🙄

Lancet also published that Covid was from natural origins. 🙄 pic.twitter.com/foRuiErcFj

Wow, projecting projections, lol. Get back to us when an actual number is tracked. Also, did the Lancet's methodology include where exactly USAID payments ended up?
— Scott Coleman (@bandphan) June 25, 2026
Pure propaganda. All USAID had to do was provide accounting and records of who and what the money was used for. Should be a standard practice for any NGO receiving tax dollars.

More propaganda. Elon has never had decision making authority in government.

DOGE could investigate waste and fraud, but it didn't have the power to shutter anything.
No way, it’s going to be at least 14 billion people by tomorrow

It's not just Khanna trying to score political points. The UN is in on the scam as well.
US cut to South Africa's HIV response could cost lives, UNAids chief warns https://t.co/iiC3rSHxvh
— BBC News (World) (@BBCWorld) June 23, 2026
Sounds like it's time for @UNAIDS and @WHO to step up. (the US gives money to both of these organizations).

Can you do one of your bits on how much the US Government gave to fight HIV/AIDS in 2025. pic.twitter.com/Ez6AjU7k92
The U.S. has "invested" over $8 billon in South Africa's HIV/AIDS programs since 2003, with recent annual funding of about $400M.

South Africans need to take responsibility and apply the lessons learned for a healthier future the US already funded.
If only there was a way to practice sex safely and responsibly without asking other countries for assistance 🙄
— Tristan Wolf Abbott (@t7wolf) June 23, 2026
Why can't South Africa take care of its own AIDS crisis? Why does it fall to the United States to sustain 14 million foreign lives?
Khanna is a clown, The Lancet is leftist propaganda, and USAID was a slush fund.
