You might have read earlier this week that Coca-Cola has paused its diversity initiatives due to a shake-up at the company. Among those initiatives was a course, publically available on LinkedIn, encouraging employees to “try to be less white.” Now, a week after Disney was criticized for its revamped ride in which the prince kisses Snow White without her consent, Christopher Rufo has some documents from a Walt Disney Corporation training session that encourages employees to complete a “white privilege checklist.”
SCOOP: The Walt Disney Corporation claims that America was founded on “systemic racism,” encourages employees to complete a “white privilege checklist,” and separates minorities into racially-segregated “affinity groups.”
I've obtained internal documents that will shock you.🧵

According to a trove of whistleblower materials, Disney has launched a “diversity and inclusion” program, called “Reimagine Tomorrow,” which includes trainings on “systemic racism,” “white privilege,” “white fragility,” “white saviors,” “microaggressions,” and “antiracism.” pic.twitter.com/l41Dltugfg

Disney claims that America has a “long history of systemic racism and transphobia” and tells employees they must “take ownership of educating yourself about structural anti-Black racism” and “not rely on your Black colleagues to educate you,” which is “emotionally taxing.” pic.twitter.com/eSSxpPvvFF

This is pretty rich coming from Disney, which took until 2009 to introduce a black princess, is revamping its Jungle Cruise ride because of its “colonialist” undertones, is reworking Splash Mountain, which is based on “Song of the South,” yanked “Dumbo,” “Peter Pan,” and “The Aristocats” from Disney+ over racial stereotypes, and shrank down black actor John Boyega for the Chinese versions of the “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” movie posters.

White employees are told to “work through feelings of guilt, shame, and defensiveness to understand what is beneath them and what needs to be healed.” They must “listen with empathy [to] Black colleagues” and “not question or debate Black colleagues’ lived experience.” pic.twitter.com/PkLnMhaqrA

Disney tells employees they should reject “equality,” or “equal treatment,” and instead strive for “equity,” or “the equality of outcome.” They must “reflect” on America’s “racist infrastructure” and “think carefully about whether or not [their] wealth” is derived from racism. pic.twitter.com/iYV8M1BNjT

Disney sponsored the creation of a “21-Day Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge” and recommended it to employees. The challenge begins with a lesson on “systemic racism” and tells participants they have “all been raised in a society that elevates white culture over others.” pic.twitter.com/VDN6TUqhma

Next, participants are asked to complete a “white privilege checklist”: “I am white,” I am heterosexual,” “I am a man,” “I still identity as the gender I was born in,” “I have never been raped,” “I don’t rely on public transportation,” and “I have never been called a terrorist.” pic.twitter.com/hcTVp9Tnz1
— Christopher F. Rufo ⚔️ (@realchrisrufo) May 8, 2021
Finally, participants are told they must “pivot” from “white dominant culture” to “something different.” The document claims that “competition,” “individualism,” “timeliness,” and “comprehensiveness” are “white dominant” values that “perpetuate white supremacy culture.” pic.twitter.com/f4Z9LSv8Ir

At least the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History & Culture had the sense to take down its exhibit on “whiteness and white culture” that included indicators of institutionalized white supremacy such as perfectionism, individualism, and objectivity.
Disney recommends that employees read a how-to guide called “75 Things White People Can Do for Racial Justice.” The article tells readers to “defund the police,” “participate in reparations,” “decolonize your bookshelf,” and “find and join a local ‘white space.’” pic.twitter.com/RJLCTK5ypv

Finally, Disney has launched racially-segregated “affinity groups” for minority employees, with the goal of achieving “culturally-authentic insights.” The Latino group was named “Hola,” the Asian group was named “Compass,” and the black group was named “Wakanda.” pic.twitter.com/iCsGBFoD3I

So nothing about having experienced antisemitism or anti-Asian hate, the two most common forms of hate crimes in the US.

The ✔️ list completely misses the experience of immigrants:
Were you born in this country?
Were your parents " "?
Have you had to change your customs and way of life?
Did you have to learn a new language?
Do your parents speak English?
Do you have to translate for them?

Curious – is this a science in USA? It seems so bogus – much like psychological tests printed in women’s magazines or horoscopes in newspapers. What a shame and deception – feel sad how this once loved and admired American brand is in free downfall.

"I have never been raped" "I have never attempted suicide" "I have never had an addiction" – these questions are incredibly invasive! @Disney this is so inappropriate.

What a bizarre thing to subject ones employees to.

It’s abuse. Employees being abused with this mind-fuckery by @WaltDisneyCo should sue.

I hate using these stupid ass lefty terms, but as a POC this is hilarious. This shit makes us look weak, unstable and emotionally undeveloped. Frankly, it makes me uncomfortable. If I worked at Disney I'd quit. I don't need my white coworkers sympathy or "equity of outcome"
— No Names (@1984Names) May 8, 2021
And these are only the training sessions we hear about through whistleblowers … imagine how much of this is going on in corporate America — and in the U.S. military and government.

Update:
Here’s Rufo on with Tucker Carlson:
