It’s kind of cute that Disney star Raven–Symoné told TODAY that “if there’s a ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill,” there should be a “Don’t Say Straight” bill as well … cute because we’re past the “bill” stage — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed it into law on Monday, so there’s no “if” about it. Raven-Symoné tells TODAY that she joined with other Disney employees last Tuesday in a walk-out, since Disney employees were “forced into an impossible and unsustainable position” by the CEO’s foot-dragging to pressure DeSantis not to sign the bill.
It’s also kind of cute that liberals are hanging on to the “Don’t Say Gay” nickname for the legislation, and it didn’t stop it from passing, despite the Sun-Sentinel reporting that DeSantis had been “outmaneuvered” by the three-word catchphrase. And it’s really cute that some people protesting the law think the word “gay” appears anywhere in the text; it says “sexual orientation,” and guess what? Straight is a sexual orientation.
Meanwhile on @TODAYshow: “If there’s a don’t say gay bill, there should be a don’t say straight bill”
What are the chances that she actually read the bill? pic.twitter.com/BsAGlZrOJE

As plenty of people have pointed out, when we were kids growing up, we didn’t even know our teachers’ first names, let alone their sexual orientation, so we’re not crying any tears that a teacher can’t share with his kindergarteners that he went paddle-boarding with his partner over the weekend.
How about it? “Don’t Say Straight”?
Okay.

If her point is that teachers shouldn't be talking about their straight sex lives with children, sure
— Vincent Lafontaine (@Vincenzo_flame) March 30, 2022
In other words, exactly what the bill says?
— Breaks Things (@InverseM1d4s) March 30, 2022
Yeah I don't want teachers talking to my 1st to 3rd graders about sex regardless of its gay or straight talk. It isn't a gay thing…

Dude don’t say gay. I haven’t read the bill but I’m pretty sure it’s illegal now. I won’t tell anyone though

"Even/Equal" she says? So she is advocating for a Straight Pride Parade I guess? 🤔
— Five Times August (@FiveTimesAugust) March 30, 2022
Remember when those guys in Boston tried to have a “Straight Pride” parade? Celebrities like Chris Evans and politicians like AOC were deeply triggered. Evans thought they should have a “desperately trying to bury our own gay thoughts by being homophobic because no one taught us how to access our emotions as children” parade.
The bill is literally both lol

Imagine that… it’s the same bill.
— Rawr. (@rawrdeal) March 30, 2022
I mean…. That’s what it does already.

It’s about keeping kids, kids. I have 5 sons; I don’t want any of them talking about anything sexual until they get at least 12-13 years old. That’s the only thing this is about. Let them BE.

Again for those who missed it: “straight” is a sexual orientation, and “cisgender” is a gender identity, so those are covered in the law as well.
