Black Lives Matter recently updated its website with its response to the police killing of Ma’Khia Bryant, and much like NBC Nightly News, omitted any reference to her lunging at another girl with a knife in her hand. James Lindsay says the organization has also updated its list of demands, or at least seven of them.

Here are the demands in case they’re not legible in the tweet above:

  • Convict and ban Trump from future political office
  • Expel Republican members of Congress who attempted to overturn the election and incited a white supremacist attack
  • Launch a full investigation into the ties between white supremacy and the Capitol Police, law enforcement, and the military
  • Permanently ban Trump from all digital media platforms
  • Defund the police
  • Don’t let the coup be used as an excuse to crack down on our movement
  • Pass the BREATHE Act

As 1619 Project creator Nikole Hannah-Jones recently explained to CBS News, Black Lives Matter agrees that “the police were born out of slave patrols. We cannot reform an institution built upon white supremacy.”

The violent January 6 coup, which they don’t want any Republicans trying to compare to their “Freedom Summer” of 2020.

That adjunct professor who was just put on leave after berating a student for standing up for the police also told him that modern policing was directly descended from slave patrols. It’s just a matter of fact at this point.

They must think Donald Trump is running again (and worry he could be re-elected) seeing how focused they are on banning him from holding public office or even a Twitter account.
