Democrats Will Never Be the Normal Party Again

Twitter

Every day I wake up and watch as the Democratic Party continues to implode. This past week, they absolutely covered themselves in glory by politicizing the mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church and school in Minneapolis, even going so far as to attack the concept of prayer and faith

Much of this is driven by the Democratic Party's inability to excise the radicals from its ranks. This includes the antisemitic members of The Squad, incompetent leaders like Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass, and the radical LGBTQ factions. The entire raison d'etre of the Democrats is 'Orange Man Bad' and every bad policy decision flows from that.

It's so bad that moderate political think tank Third Way even gave the Democrats a list of no-no words so they could talk to normal people. The Democrats responded to this reasonable advice by opening the DNC Summer Meeting with a land acknowledgement and having a speaker at the event tell Democrats to ignore major issues like migrant crime and carjackings because that 'doesn't matter' to most Americans (spoiler alert: it does).

Voters have responded by switching their registrations from D to R in every single state that tracks such things, and by giving the Democrats a whopping 19% approval rating.

The anti-Trumpers at The Bulwark aren't helping things, either, as Sarah Longwell demonstrates here:

That doesn't work anymore. For years, the Left has tried to paint any mainstream Republican position as 'extremist' and an 'existential threat' to democracy, freedom, or the latest Left-wing cause du jour.

They'll also tell us that 'this isn't who we are,' when referring to the policies President Trump has enacted since his inauguration. That argument may have held some weight in 2016, when President Trump won the Electoral College but lost the popular vote. That doesn't change the reality of our system, or the fact that Donald Trump was president-elect as of November 8, 2016. But you could at least try to make an argument that most Americans disagreed with his positions.

In 2024, that argument is gone. Donald Trump not only won the Electoral College, but he also won the popular vote. Americans said in a resounding voice that they rejected the radicalism of the Biden-Harris years. The only people surprised by this were the Democrats who thought Kamala Harris had 'momentum' during her 107-day campaign. I, however, said from July 13, 2024, onward that Donald Trump was going to win the election.

In the decade since Donald Trump rode down the escalator, every noun, verb, and adjective out of the Democratic Party's mouth has been some amalgamation of 'Donald Trump is Hitler.' It was a major plank in Kamala Harris' platform, and Joe Biden ran on opposing the dictator Trump right up until his party kicked him to the curb like a bag of trash.

Instead of comparing President Trump to the Führer, they should have spent five minutes trying to figure out why President Trump resonated with people in 2016 and again in 2024.

Instead, the Democratic Party spent the past decade openly and unabashedly embracing the following extremist positions:

  • Trans ideology that says some women can have penises and men can have babies
  • Forcing our daughters to undress in front of and compete against boys
  • Mutilating and sterilizing children in the name of 'gender identity'
  • Open borders policies that have let various and sundry criminals, foreign agents, and possible terrorists into the nation
  • Supporting illegal immigrants facing deportation while ignoring the families and victims of illegal immigrant criminals
  • On-demand abortion throughout all nine months of pregnancy funded by tax dollars
  • 'Criminal justice reform' schemes that repeatedly release career criminals into our neighborhoods
  • Radical gun control targeting law-abiding citizens
  • Violent, vandalizing 'protests' of a Tesla and other businesses

I think you get my point.

Every single one of those policy positions is ingrained in the Democratic Party's radical Leftist base, a base that is increasingly angered by and unsatisfied with the way Democrats are fighting Trump. They're calling for a bloody revolt against him and his supporters -- something we saw play out in Butler, PA, and again in Minneapolis.

That's not normal, and Americans are aware of this. Americans see who the extremists are and which party is the insane one. We rejected it in November and will continue to reject it until the Democratic Party gets its act together.

It doesn't seem that will happen anytime soon.

The Bulwark knows it, too.
