There were quite a few conservatives, and a whole boatload of liberals who complained when governors like Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott started bussing illegal immigrants to sanctuary states and cities like New York.
New York City mayor Eric Adams even often tweeted about welcoming immigrants, even quoting the poem on the Statue of Liberty to chide the border towns in Texas, Arizona, and elsewhere who said their communities couldn't afford the influx of illegal immigrants.
Until the buses started coming.
Then he changed his tune, saying illegal immigrants will 'destroy' NYC.
And now, polls show many New Yorkers agree with him:

We are less sympathetic, but they have been voting for this for years. In fact, New York voted for Biden in massive numbers 2020, he won the state by almost 61%. He NYC 72-23, and Manhattan by 86-12. They voted for this, good and hard.
