White House Press Secretary Kaitlyn Leavitt recently announced that she’s stepping down from her position to focus on her two young children. That has many speculating who should take her place. Some are cheekily suggesting the White House should court someone who has extensive experience with unhinged ‘professionals’ with enormous egos who act like spoiled children. With that experience in mind, they say the WNBA’s Sophie Cunningham would be the perfect choice to deal with ‘journalists’ in daily White House press briefings.

I feel like it was meant to be 😎

At 29, Sophie Cunningham is one year younger than the departing Leavitt.
Some are already imagining the Indiana Fever shooting guard at the podium. (WATCH BOTH)

“You, with the stupid smirk on your face.”

That phrase describes almost the entire White House press corps.
Cunningham gained national fame in late June when she refused to stop pointing at an on-court opponent. (WATCH BOTH)
Sophie Cunningham broke an entire league and an entire political party with a finger point.

Sophie Cunningham breaks down her viral pointing meme.

DeWanna Bonner said “Don’t you point at me”
Then Sophie pointed at her for about 22 seconds in a silent staredown!

Great idea! I'd love to see her do a take down of some of the so-called journalists in that room the way she has on the basketball court when they go after CC.

Recommended
‘CC’ is Cunningham’s Fever teammate Caitlin Clark, who is regularly physically attacked by opposing players on court.
Other commenters say Cunningham is not their first choice.
I nominate Spencer Pratt tbh.

Awesome….but @sagesteele would be my #1 draft pick for the gig.
— Iggy (@iggyd23) August 14, 2026
Pratt or Pressler
— MSPach7 (@MichaelPac43703) August 14, 2026
We might finally see Scott Pressler and his CNN doppelgänger, Kaitlan Collins, in the same room.
Still, posters say they have a fever for the Fever star.
A Black Belt Press Secretary....🤔

It almost makes too much sense...
Sophie got the pointing part down.

Pay? So, the opposite of the WNBA.
