Regardless of one’s feelings about Ilhan Omar, one should at the very least be capable of acknowledging that the woman is carrying around some very serious baggage. Late last month, the Star-Tribune, Omar’s hometown paper, did some actual investigative journalism and revealed that they’d “found new evidence” that Omar was guilty of immigration fraud.
New investigative documents released by a Minnesota state agency have given fresh life to lingering questions about the marital history of U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar. https://t.co/ueeTzM6DuZ

The Washington Examiner’s Tiana Lowe’s research turned up evidence for that as well.
Here’s what Donald Trump had to say on the matter this afternoon:
Trump on Rep. Omar before leaving White House: "There's a lot of talk about the fact that she was married to her brother. I know nothing about it."

Welp.
Yowza. He went there. https://t.co/q5gyo4zsEr
— Varad Mehta (@varadmehta) July 17, 2019
Of course he did. Because he’s Trump. But technically he’s right that there’s been “a lot of talk about it.” Just not from the people whose job it is to talk about stuff like this. And now, those people, the Real Journalists™, are sounding the alarm:
Now see, this is calculated https://t.co/J6pnmMDWTT

There’s at least a 60% chance here he doesn’t

At least.
Is this truly the first you’ve heard of this?

To be fair, it’s entirely possible that they knew about this before. They just didn’t think they’d, you know, actually have to cover it.
Is it true or false? No ones answering this question though.

Is it true or false? You’re the reporter

Or just keep ignoring it.
This is something the national media paid zero attention to so will mock it. Then they’ll realize it’s an actual story. So they’ll switch to ignoring it https://t.co/iWQtniCwoX

Maybe if they wish hard enough, it’ll all just go away.

Update:
Of course Omar’s pals at NowThis are running to her defense:
Trump just brought up a far-right conspiracy theory that Rep. Ilhan Omar married her brother. There is no basis to this wild accusation pic.twitter.com/rLz13vFRN2
— NowThis (@nowthisnews) July 17, 2019
“A far-right conspiracy theory” with “no basis,” huh?
Here is the ultra-liberal @StarTribune’s article stating that there are serious questions about her marriage https://t.co/TJxv8VGfou https://t.co/Hc3tjt4Yml

Oh, hey. Look who’s here:
Congresswoman Omar has denied this and other claims about her as "disgusting lies." But Trump was willing to dive right in.https://t.co/XcTftAN0fR https://t.co/rJqpMpvtam

Acosta’s quite the accomplished diver-inner himself. Sure took his sweet time with this one, though …
Here is a report from the @StarTribune, one of the leading ’liberal’ newspapers in MN who just wrote that there are serious questions about @IlhanMN’s marriage history.
Until today, @Acosta has totally ignored this story https://t.co/TJxv8VGfou https://t.co/MjNXo68Dmy
