HA! ‘Proud Anchor Baby’ Delia Ramirez SNAPS After Gill Makes Her the Pitch for His Citizenship Act

Rep. Delia Ramirez didn’t just roll out another slogan-heavy immigration bill in Chicago. She proposed blowing up the Department of Homeland Security, abolishing ICE and Border Patrol, and parking the leftovers in a new “community safety” department while the money gets rerouted to programs she likes better. Coming from a lawmaker who has proudly owned the “anchor baby” label, that pitch was all the invitation Rep. Brandon Gill needed.

The Texas Republican is treating Ramirez’s press conference as Exhibit A for his Citizenship Act — the argument being that automatic citizenship for the children of illegal aliens can put people in Congress who then try to dismantle the agencies meant to enforce the border.

Whether that bill survives the courts is another fight. Ramirez just made Gill’s sales pitch a lot easier.

And as usual, he pulled zero punches:
