Secretary of State Marco Rubio just did what the White House press corps hates most: he said the quiet part out loud and refused to pretend three legacy outlets are owed a desk in the West Wing.
In a pointed exchange with NBC, Rubio tore into the habit of treating Tehran’s talking points like gospel while treating American officials like the unreliable narrators. The ban isn’t a shutdown of CNN, MS NOW, or Politico. It’s the end of the complimentary office space. They can still cover the administration. They just don’t get to camp out inside the building after years of treating the president’s words as optional and a hostile regime’s claims as fact.
Rubio’s argument is simple and, to anyone outside the Beltway, painfully obvious: access is a privilege, not a constitutional timeshare.
