Like 23 other blue states, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has a new villain, and it is not a county recorder or a rogue drop box. It is the United States Postal Service.
Mayes announced Wednesday that Arizona has joined a coalition of Democratic-led states suing to block a new USPS rule on federal ballot mail. The rule, issued to carry out President Trump’s March executive order on election integrity, would require states to send USPS a list of voters eligible to receive mail ballots. The Postal Service would then deliver those ballots only to people on the list and only in envelopes that meet new design and barcode standards.
Apparently securing mail-in voting is a bridge too far for Democrats who have all but lost their minds over this latest attempt by the president to stop cheating.
Which is probably why they're so mad.

Nobody is arguing states do not run elections. The fight is over whether the post office has to treat a ballot like any other piece of First-Class mail with no extra checks, or whether the federal government can refuse to carry ballots that states will not identify. Mayes wants the courts to freeze the rule before November. The administration wants a list, a barcode, and a little less mystery in the mail.
That is the whole fight in one envelope. Mayes and other Democrats say chaos. Critics say accountability. A judge will decide which one actually arrives on time.
