I have had this conversation so many times, about both religion and politics. My lefty friends were tolerant of me (bless their hearts) until Covid. I even got vaxxed, but not letting my kids take it was a bridge too far.

For some reason, he's the most divisive figure in politics today... possibly of all time.
Someone should do a serious study on this, as it's both fascinating and incredibly maddening.

It's not that he's divisive, it's that people reacting to him are divisive. The same people who scream about him being Satan were fine with and even admired him when he was a Democrat.
But the moment he became a Republican, that stopped.
Which brings up the reality of the Left: the moment another Republican wins the presidency, these same people will tell us how much worse they are than Trump and then eventually they will treat Trump as some fair, and well-respected moderate.
