Writer Joel Stein took it upon himself to wear a MAGA hat into an uber-liberal cafe to prove how politically tribal people have become in the age of Trump. But what he found is what we’ve known all along and that most of the time, Twitter is not real life.
That and not everyone is batsh*t insane and realizes a hat is just a hat.
This story is hilarious. Guy wears a MAGA hat to an uber liberal cafe, doesn't get harassed or assaulted, and concludes that this proves that white supremacy has become normalized even in SJW circles. https://t.co/gdX8DiIhMH

From The Daily Wire:
As a case study in American political tribalism in the age of President Trump, a Los Angeles writer wore a MAGA hat to an ultra-liberal vegan restaurant in the city to see what sort of adventures would unfold. Quite shockingly, people actually proved his thesis wrong.
The article by Joel Stein in Los Angeles Magazine confronts the fact that Americans hate each other in the age of President Trump, a fever he himself admits to having been inflicted with at times.
Heh. Ya’ think?
Imagine thinking it's bad that nobody harassed you in public for wearing a hat. pic.twitter.com/VRWxkkVmVT

Poor Joel. Nobody was mean to him. Since it was a Vegan Cafe all he really had to do was bring in hamburger if he really wanted to be abused.
By the way, I don't ascribe this solely to people being more tolerant than you'd think. It's also that those who harass and assault people wearing MAGA hats these days get their asses on camera and end up arrested.

Absolutely a good point. So maybe the people wanted to attack him but were afraid they’d end up Twitchied like that Weiner woman who yelled a guy in a MAGA hat.
This is another common thing I see in the Trump era – blaming Trump for the fact that you are now a certifiably crazy person with upside down notions of what is worse than what. Lampshading your insanity doesn't make it ok. pic.twitter.com/MKUlHOdyZX

All they had to do was not be crazy.
Maybe shoulda taken off the Imstillwithher shirt

That’s what gave him away, right?!
We knew it.
Not sure a vegan restaurant is a fair test. I mean, they're vegans in there, right?

Fair.
They’re already so angry about everything else maybe they didn’t even notice the hat.
“I avoided him because there was a rumor he voted for Trump”. Who thinks this way? It seems like it would be miserable.

It must be exhausting being so angry all of the time.
Because, you know, maybe sane people don’t see a hat as a symbol of white supremacy.

Quiet you with all your common sense and sanity.

A+ for the Grail gif.
People not reacting like cultists is good.

Now not punching people is white supremacy…

Ding ding ding.
…and this is why I am *convinced* journalist/writers/etc aren’t very smart

And they wonder why we make fun of them.
