Dave Weigel seems to be carrying a good deal of water for AOC and the Green New Deal.
IMO the biggest gaffe in the Green New Deal FAQ was not the cows stuff (that's easy to understand) but the "unwilling to work" stuff. What AOC's team meant was that people at the end of their working life would get a big pension instead of, like, coding classes.

Give it up, man. What they meant to say about the Green New Deal as opposed to what was actually in the Green New Deal is irrelevant. And come on, the cow stuff was pretty damn stupid not to mention the idea of grown men urinating in jugs, leaving the urine in the sun, and then later using it to make coffee.
This thing was a dumpster fire from start to finish.
But the boneheaded way they phrased it — which they don't defend — conjures up an image of, like, some 30-year old liberal arts major getting free money to blog about trees.

We disagree with Dave’s assessment on the whole ‘lazy people will get free stuff’ being the dumbest part of the Green New Deal. If you find yourself saying, ‘What they meant was,’ odds are you’re projecting what you HOPE they meant.
The linguistic gymnastics you have to do to get from "unwilling to work" to "retiring" are pretty impressive.

Morphing from reporter on the Iowa Preaidential best to know it all about everything is better left to know it alls not on a Presidential like @mattyglesias

Are you their public relations team? Thanks for letting us know what they meant, as opposed to letting us decipher the published text.

Why is that an improvement….? Why should a person "at the end of their working life" not work? They haven't surpassed their working life. Why do we want to motivate them to not work….?

are you sure that's what they meant? After all, that policy team appears mostly to be Brooklyn bros who…really are unwilling to work.

Why are you carrying water for her? If she meant retirees, how hard would it have been to use that word? https://t.co/YWnuj8bbuL

Because she’s Alex from the Bronx.
