Taxpayers spend more on government schools than ever, and the results are horrific. This is just among students who go to college. That is supposed to be the most academically talented students. They can't even read.
1 in 5 college students now reads at the level of a ten-year-old.
— Peter St Onge, Ph.D. (@profstonge) July 20, 2026
Then college takes $150,000 to teach them systemic oppression from a 29-year-old adjunct who lives in a Kia.
This clown-show costs you over a trillion dollars. pic.twitter.com/cCq6flc74O
Our system is very messed up.
Public schools are spending nearly $21,000 per student annually - but when they get to college far too many can't read, can't write, and can't do math.

School Choice now! https://t.co/4dePyXXmO2 https://t.co/6c8JlM4XG1
This is the best argument ever for school choice. Surely parents have the right to choose better for their kids.
At least Randi Weingarten is doing a Mayday March for students now. https://t.co/2dLm2EO4sb
— Stephen L. Miller (@redsteeze) July 20, 2026
Ol' Randi is laser focused on the needs of students. NOT! Maybe she'd understand kids if she'd ever been in a classroom in the last decade or two or actually had one of her own.
American education now costs $250,000 for K–12, followed by $150,000 for college.
— Wall Street Mav (@WallStreetMav) July 20, 2026
That’s $400,000 to produce an adult who can’t read but knows Communism will work this time. https://t.co/LsvWZCKupw
Then, they run for office as Democrats and try to destroy America.
We subsidize higher education.
— Mike Lee (@BasedMikeLee) July 20, 2026
Then it gets even more expensive.
And 20% of college students now read at the level of a ten-year-old.
Something’s terribly wrong. https://t.co/cFwnOJ9m3y
It's time to envision a new era in education. It's time to allow parents to choose how their kids learn. Parents know what is best for their kids.
Public schools doubled spending, yet they graduate kids who read and write at 10-year-old level.
— FXHedge (@Fxhedgers) July 20, 2026
Then colleges charge them another $150,000 to teach them nothing.
And you’re paying trillions for this indoctrination. https://t.co/KGM75ycjyE
Homeschool your kids. https://t.co/y2CpOBcPxF
— Cari Kelemen (@KelemenCari) July 20, 2026
Obviously, there are parents who cannot homeschool. For those families, charter schools or private schools are often a great alternative. Parents should have that option.
My kids are going into trades. Thankfully. https://t.co/m69rLS1Ujw

My son went straight to the Firefighter Academy and at age 26, he was just promoted to a Lieutenant (the youngest at his department ... I'm bragging). With overtime, he will make over $100,000 this year. My daughter is in Esthetician school and will have a career she enjoys after a year.
Apple and Google dropped degree requirements not as charity to job seekers but because degrees stopped predicting performance. The credential lasted a century. The content failed first.
— Martin Varsavsky (@martinvars) July 20, 2026
That state of Florida government did as well. Completion of college means less and less for many fields now.
The problem is not the teaching methods, the problem is giving passing grades to students who should fail, giving them high school diplomas, and then admitting them into university.
— P.D. Mangan Health & Freedom Maximalist 🇺🇸 (@Mangan150) July 20, 2026
Giving participation trophy diplomas benefits no one. School Choice is the only way our current students will get the education they deserve.
