TFW a fired former FBI director is more concerned with information on a certain Twitter account than the leaking of 'sensitive' material

Not that a highly-experienced legal professional such as James Comey would believe that the DOJ inspector general’s report is in any way is a vindication of him and his actions, but if, by chance, he does … Byron York is here to clear up any confusion.

The new report from the Justice Department inspector general proves beyond any doubt that fired FBI Director James Comey leaked sensitive law enforcement material in the Trump-Russia investigation. Doing so set a “dangerous example” for the bureau’s other employees, Inspector General Michael Horowitz wrote.

Comey did, in fact, leak classified information. It’s right there in the report. It wasn’t much classified information, and it was perhaps not terribly important, and Justice Department officials concluded it was not worth prosecuting. But Comey leaked classified material.

Here is the actual quote from Horowitz’s report:

Former Director Comey failed to live up to this responsibility. By not safeguarding sensitive information obtained during the course of his FBI employment, and by using it to create public pressure for official action, Comey set a dangerous example for the over 35,000 current FBI employees—and the many thousands more former FBI employees—who similarly have access to or knowledge of non-public information.

In addition to the rebuke by Horowitz, even James Clapper said on CNN that Comey “violated the standard protocols and procedures of the FBI” (before a “but…,” of course).

On the heels of this report and the fallout from it, Mr. Comey has returned to what has become his post-FBI hobby … knocking and subtweeting President Trump.

We imagine the public at large is far less interested in Comey’s hot takes on the president’s tweets than they are in the actions he took during his “leadership” of the world’s leading investigative agency.
