Converse-Troversy! Washington Post Tries to 'Sneak' in Some Race Rage Over Shoe Ad

With the state of the legacy media, no one in America ever need worry about ending racism. Because no matter how low the demand for it, "journalists" are always happy to provide more supply, even if they have to make it up out of whole cloth.

Or, in this case, whole canvas.

Anyone who grew up in Gen X remembers that Converse's classic Chuck Taylor sneakers (black or white) were THE kicks that you had to own. We loved them even more than Michael Jordan's far more expensive Nikes.

But we're no longer allowed to enjoy nice things in the United States, so Converse has become the latest to be declared "RAYCISSSSS!!" by miserable scolds on the Left and in the legacy media.

Recently, Democrats have tried to push a false narrative about a slew of "lynchings" in this country. None of it is true, of course, and politicians like Ayanna Pressley and AOC, who have promoted it, have been fact-checked and Community Noted into oblivion.

But legacy media outlets don't care about facts. They will repeat AOC's claims while deliberately leaving out key details, such as the fact that most of the deaths were suicides.

Enter Converse (which, funny enough, is now owned by the failing Nike brand). Recently, the sneaker company tried to promote a new version of the classic Chuck Taylors called "Chuck 70s," only to be accused of supporting those fictitious hangings.

The Washington Post was only too eager to jump in with this metaphorical lynch mob to try to shame Converse into submission.

"According to social media users."

Journalism, everyone!

The promotional ad in question was not used in Wapo's tweet (lest they be considered guilty by association), but Twitchy favorite Holly Briden helped everyone out by showing the image, in her usual satirical fashion.

That's weird. Most normal people will look at that and see one person holding a pair of the iconic sneakers in her hand, under a spotlight.

But for the Post, all they can see is a KKK hood and a black person hanging.

The photo showed a figure in white carrying a pair of sneakers. But it looked an awful lot like a Ku Klux Klan member’s pointed hood foregrounded by the dangling feet of a lynching victim, according to social media users.

“Shadow, light, and composition. Every photographer can tell you, whoever did this ad knew EXACTLY what they were doing,” the Chicago-based photographer Stephanie Schwartz wrote on Threads on Thursday.

Promoting a classic sneaker? Is that "exactly" what they were doing? Because it sure seems like that's exactly what they were doing.

After her parody post above, Briden weighed in again with a more honest reaction:

They have a grip, alright. It's firmly around pushing insane race-baiting propaganda.

That's EVERY day in their life.

Their sad existence would be hilarious if it weren't so dangerous and toxic.

Obviously, WaPo was far too busy with this false narrative to report on a recent case of ACTUAL violent racism.

The absolute state of legacy media in America summed up right there.

We have to be embarrassed for them. They've shown, time and again, that they don't know what that word means.

As always, we say, "Embrace the power of 'AND.'"

Sadly, the story does not have a happy ending. Converse caved to the mob with a craven apology and pulled the image.

Because, as history shows, that always placates the clinically insane Left.

And the race hustlers will STILL demand that Converse go through an endless cycle of struggle sessions, never to be forgiven.

That's a pretty good question.

We'll go ahead and conclude that both are equally awful.

It's almost as if the people who see racism in every image they encounter are the actual racists.

Yeah ... ahem ... almost.

We're only surprised that The Washington Post didn't draw red lines around the parts of the photo that were supposed to be racist, offensive, and outrageous.

You know, just to make sure no one missed it.

And we never will.

But we'll keep trying, seeing as how they're dedicated to continue trying to gin up fake racial hatred in America.

It's the least we can do.
