GOP urged to show their tweet about being the party of limited gov't to some Republicans

Earlier this month, 18 Republican senators voted with the Democrats to pass the $1.7 trillion, 4,000-page omnibus spending monstrosity. One of those Republican senators voting in favor of the bill’s passage was Mitt Romney, and he explained his vote this way:

Romney essentially said that it would be cheaper in the long run to pass this particular bill: “So in the final analysis I’m convinced that if we don’t pass this omnibus we are going to see a deal that costs more money.”

Senator Mitch McConnell said, “I’m pretty proud of the fact that with a Democratic president, Democratic House, and Democratic Senate, we were able to achieve through this Omnibus spending bill essentially all of our priorities.”

“All of our priorities” — and by “our” McConnell is no doubt referring to members of Congress at the trough and not regular Americans.

Here are all the Republican senators who voted for the latest Spend-a-Palooza package along with all Democrats (via Spencer Brown at Townhall):

Roy Blunt of Missouri
John Boozman of Arkansas
Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia
Susan Collins of Maine
John Cornyn of Texas
Tom Cotton of Arkansas
Lindsey Graham of South Carolina
Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma
Mitch McConnell of Kentucky
Jerry Moran of Kansas
Lisa Murkowski of Alaska
Rob Portman of Ohio
Mitt Romney of Utah
Mike Rounds of South Dakota
Richard Shelby of Alabama
John Thune of South Dakota
Roger Wicker of Mississippi
Todd Young of Indiana

That leads me to this tweet from the GOP, a party apparently in desperate need of introspection:

Not great timing on that tweet, GOP.

Christina Pushaw has let the GOP know where to direct that message:

If the GOP is the party of small government they forgot to convey that message to many Republicans.

If voting for a 4,000-page, $1.7 trillion omnibus bill full of Dem “priorities” is a show of fighting for a limited government I’m afraid to know what these 18 Republicans would do if they supported a big government.
