Before we get into what Biden press secretary Jen Psaki said at today’s White House briefing, just to set the scene, here’s a chart showing the average price of a gallon of gasoline since Biden took office (via GasBuddy):
At the briefing today, Psaki made it clear she’d like everybody to believe the rise in gas prices only started when Russia invaded Ukraine and it has nothing to do with Biden’s “America last” energy policies:

I thought that this was the president that stated he would not pass the buck. That the buck stopped with him. The price of gas had been climbing significantly long before Putin invaded Ukraine.

Officials in this administration say out of one side of their mouths that increasing gas prices are a necessity because of their “transition to clean energy,” and then deny the increase in gas prices have anything to do with Biden’s policies out of the other. Which is it?

Apparently everybody in the Biden administration has a low opinion of Americans’ ability to correctly process what they’re seeing.
