Geraldo Rivera seems torn up about Twitter layoffs that were done with 'gut-wrenching efficiency'

Twitter is reportedly laying off approximately half of their employees starting today:

Twitter Chief Elon Musk will begin staff layoffs Friday morning even as several employees have filed a class action lawsuit claiming the move violates a labor law that requires giving workers 60 days’ notice.

After finalizing the $44 billion buyout last week, an email was sent to the company’s 7,500 employees on Thursday warning that about half of the positions will be cut.

“Team, in an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday,” the email said. “We recognize that this will impact a number of individuals who have made valuable contributions to Twitter, but this action is unfortunately necessary to ensure the company’s success moving forward.”

The tone being taken by many on the Twitter layoffs seems to be quite different than when pipeline or coal workers lose their jobs (or the narrative when Hillary Clinton was relishing in the prospect of putting coal companies out of work).

Geraldo Rivera doesn’t seem happy about how Musk handled this:

If it was done with “gut-wrenching efficiency” we know this wasn’t a government operation.

And tech layoffs aren’t confined to Twitter.

The “they can be taught to make solar panels” crowd is going to treat the Twitter layoffs under Elon Musk quite differently.

Apparently that advice is only acceptable when it comes to laid-off coal and pipeline workers.
