Kaitlan Collins Calls CNN White House Ban an ‘Illegal Assault’ on Their Constitutional Rights

As you know, on Friday, President Donald Trump said that as of today, CNN, MS NOW, and POLITICO would be denied access to the White House. CNN defended its "fair and accurate reporting" in a statement, but video compilations of CNN broadcasts countered that. CNN on Saturday is broadcasting from the sidewalk across the street from the White House, where a good Samaritan suggested they could get their press access back by telling the truth.

CNN's chief White House correspondent, Kaitlan Collins, posted on Saturday that the ban was an "illegal assault" on the cable news network's constitutional rights. What? CNN still has freedom of speech and freedom of the press. As we said, they're reporting from outside the White House today. We didn't know they had a constitutional right to access the White House.

CNN: “Early today, CNN journalists were denied access to the White House grounds. CNN’s mission to report on the U.S. government will continue regardless of any attempts to restrict physical access to the White House and other government buildings, or any other attempts to impede…

— Kaitlan Collins (@kaitlancollins) September 19, 2026

The post continues:

… our journalism. We have a right under the U.S. Constitution to do our reporting without hindrance or interference from the government and this ban is an illegal assault on this fundamental right.”

Will CNN be filing a lawsuit?

So you’ll continue to make shit up. No one is surprised by this

You deserve to be banned.

You’re not a journalist, you’re a political hack spreading misinformation.

The Supreme Court’s Houchins v. KQED 1978 ruling says media has no greater access rights to government facilities than the public, and Zemel v. Rusk 1965 ruling notes White House entry is not a First Amendment right and the press lacks an unrestrained right to gather information

You already have your story before you get to the White House so nothing really changes.

Hey Journalists,
Reporting ON the White House is your job.
Reporting FROM the White House is a privilege.
Hope that helps.

— Cari Kelemen (@KelemenCari) September 19, 2026

Don't cry, you don't need to be in the White House to report fake news.

— SheepDog Society LLC (@SDSLLC_USA) September 19, 2026

Nothing in the constitution guarantees you White House access. You can still report anything you want to dipshit.

— Ava- I Love My USA! 🇺🇸 (@WEdwarda) September 19, 2026

Bye bye 👋

You have no one to blame but yourself.

You can still report your fake news 🗑️ from outside the White House

— J (@JayTC53) September 19, 2026

I think you should just try to push your way in! I mean you are really important -what are they going to do -stop you? Go for it!

— HolyKnoly33 (@Chriserney33) September 19, 2026

Trump has no obligation to allow you to lie from the inside of the White House. Feel free to continue lying from the outside…

— JUSTICE IS COMING ...🇺🇸🍊 (@shelleywilde1) September 19, 2026

CNN denied access to the White House. Where is that in the Constitution 🤔

— Hi, I'm KellyJo 🙋🏽‍♀️🇺🇸 (@BiologicalWoma2) September 19, 2026

And you just added to the list of CNN lies. The constitution does not give you the right to access the White House.

— Swissbulldawg @BioEd (@Swissbulldawg1) September 19, 2026

Now you guys can just make up stuff from the comfort of your own home.

— Keith E. Roberts (@BIGHAAS15) September 19, 2026

You have no Constitutional right to be at the WH and the federal government isn't stopping you from speaking. There is no violation of any of your rights.

— Someone Important (@justimportant2) September 19, 2026

You don’t need access to the White House to write your ridiculous fiction.

— Morgana Le Faye *Patriot *America 1st* 🇺🇸 (@Keltic_Spirit) September 19, 2026

You're already just making up stories, why does your location even matter?

— Thomas Paine jr. (@ThomasPainejr1) September 19, 2026

Looks like CNN understands as much about the Constitution as they do about the Truth.

— RadicalCapitalist (@positbgh) September 19, 2026

CNN and Collins are claiming that hindering or interfering with CNN's ability to report is illegal and unconstitutional. Is that the opinion of CNN lawyers? Or is that a fact? It would be nice if CNN reported facts.
