Jake Sherman, founder of Punchbowl News and an MS NOW contributor, wants you to see this "stunning" ad from Rep. Maria Salazar, a Republican congresswoman from Florida who has been pushing for amnesty for years. She's behind the Dignity Act, which is shorthand for "Dignity for Immigrants while Guarding our Nation to Ignite and Deliver the American Dream." (It just happens that DIGNIDAD is Spanish for "dignity.") Her argument here is the same as it was last November: "If the GOP does not deliver, we will lose the Hispanic vote all over the country."
This is a stunning ad from Maria Elvira Salazar, a south Florida House Republican.

“Mr. President, some of your immigration enforcement efforts have gone too far. In July, 50% of the 50,000 people that were detained had no criminal record. Be careful what your advisers are… pic.twitter.com/9AGWPWLuiM
The post continues:
… telling you about immigration policy.
“The same Hispanics who helped you get to the White House in 2024 feel betrayed today. You can be for immigration what Lincoln was for slavery and Reagan was for communism. I'm not talking about giving them amnesty. I'm talking about giving them a dignified life in this promised land.”
You've got the wrong promised land, lady.
How many times is she going to try and say amnesty isn't amnesty?
— Small Gov Lizard (@smallgovlizard) September 17, 2026
Why would Hispanics here legally feel betrayed that the admin is deporting those here illegally? The vast majority don't.
— Adyana (@adyanalistens) September 17, 2026
"I'm not talking about giving them amnesty I am talking about giving them a dignified life in this promised land"
— Jeremy (@Jeremy_) September 17, 2026
Excuse me but what? How are these two things not exactly the same thing???
There is no “promised land” here for foreigners.
— Justin DeBerry (@just_deberry) September 17, 2026
This is the promised land for the posterity of the American frontiersmen.
Not TRUE! The only Latinos that feel betrayed are the illegal immigrants that can not vote! Cubans and Venezuelans will vote for Trump
— Claudia Estrada (@beba_estrada8) September 17, 2026
Won’t surprise me when she loses her reelection to a Democrat in November although Florida is RED.
— I’m Your Huckleberry (@RossFairchild) September 17, 2026
We know the no criminal record claim is false. It's also irrelevant.
— David Rising (@dlrising) September 17, 2026
Dialing back illegal immigration to pre treasonous Biden numbers is the very minimum folks voted for.
“The same Hispanics who helped you get to the White House in 2024 feel betrayed today."
— Roza Michal (@RozaMichal) September 17, 2026
So... illegals voted?
We get this in southern California sometimes - politicians playing to the hardworking, deserving immigrants trope rather than today's reality of illegals sucking at the public teat and costing taxpayers billions.
— Not Heraclitus (@NotHeraclitus) September 17, 2026
She’s pure trash and @potus should pull the endorsement.
— SazzygirlinCali (@RjbRocklin) September 17, 2026
Fox News' Bill Melugin saw the same ad but refrained from calling it "stunning."
NEW: Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL) hits President Trump on immigration in a new ad, saying that some of his immigration enforcement has “gone too far” and Hispanics feel betrayed.
— Bill Melugin (@BillMelugin_) September 17, 2026
Salazar wrote the Dignity Act, which would allow some illegal aliens a path to legal status in the U.S. https://t.co/FUrXmL8ShG
Apparently immigration law now comes with an ethnic loyalty test, enforce it and you’ve “betrayed Hispanics.”
— Mehek Cooke🇺🇸 (@MehekCooke) September 17, 2026
Hispanic is not an immigration status.
This is a policy fight that @MaElviraSalazar is losing. Spare us the racial guilt trip.
I am of Mexican descent and believe President Trump has been more than fair after the Biden open borders invasion the last four years.
— Michael Owen (@OwenIllinois) September 17, 2026
This isn't dignity it's betrayal.
— J (@JayTC53) September 17, 2026
Thank God Trump isn't going to tolerate this nonsense
@MaElviraSalazar so Trump needs to keep illegals to get the Hispanic vote? I don't believe it worked that way last election?
— Marianne velue (@Veliemar) September 17, 2026
Oh no. Illegal aliens are sad that Trump is sending them home and their anchor babies are mad. Maybe the "Hispanics" in question can leave too.
— TBoneRibman (@AmericanMadeDog) September 17, 2026
It’s crazy to me Donald Trump felt the need to endorse her. She’s one of the worst in Congress on immigration.
— James (@jden1035) September 17, 2026
It's stunning that she still thinks that her bill will pass because it will give illegal aliens "dignity."
