As Twitchy reported on Saturday, 2020 hopeful Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke announced that if you own an assault weapon, you will be selling it “back” to the government when he’s president.
A reporter asked Beto in Charlottesville how he’d reassure people afraid the gov’t would take their assault weapons away.
“I want to be really clear that that’s exactly what we are going to do,” he said. If you own an AK-47 or AR-15, “you’ll have to sell them to the government.”

The Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavedra tracked down video of that exchange, and yes, O’Rourke specified the AR-15 as one of those “assault weapons” that American citizens will be banned from owning. We know we did a post on this already, but seeing him say it on video really gets across the chilling, authoritarian nature of what he’s proposing, even if it sounds like it’s coming out of Howdy Doody’s mouth.
Robert Francis O’Rourke announces that if he's elected he is going to confiscate your guns:
Reporter: How do you address fears that the government is going to confiscate people's semi-auto firearms?

Beto promises a “buy-back” program, where the government buys your Second Amendment right and you’re left defenseless.

Um, follow-up question for Mr. O’Rourke:
Is Beto gonna come himself to do some confiscations? Good luck with that.

No you're not…

So when he sends his troops out to confiscate our firearms, will he make them wear red coats? I mean historical accuracy, and proof that some people are unable to learn from history (and still run for President).

And that’s why I won’t vote for you

Surely it should be clear to everyone at this stage that Beta is only prolonging the 'campaign' for the book deal?
— Tomás Mór (@tomasmoroc) September 2, 2019
I’m pretty sure that is not going to be a successful undertaking.

Thank you for being honest Mr. O’Rourke. I hope your challengers do the same.

Please … be as honest as you like about tramping Second Amendment rights … it’s important for voters to know you’re serious.
I’m sure all the bad guys will be like where’s my check ?

Um, follow-up question for Mr. O’Rourke … how much will the government be paying to “buy back” an AR-15? From what we’ve heard, you’ve seen then going at gun shows for a steal: $395 “for a lifetime” (does that mean ammo is included?).
He’s such an idiot.

#2. Getting the guns.— Pastor Greg Locke (@pastorlocke) September 2, 2019
Yeah, but at least gun-grabbing has finally given his campaign a purpose (other than our amusement). Remember, gun-grabbing was Rep. Eric Swalwell’s sole focus, and he was the first to drop out, so …
