Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke continues to flail in the desperate hope that more people will notice him and increase his fairly dismal polling in the field of Democrats. Today’s swing for the “reel in the base” fences was this response to a question about guns:
A reporter asked Beto in Charlottesville how he’d reassure people afraid the gov’t would take their assault weapons away.
“I want to be really clear that that’s exactly what we are going to do,” he said. If you own an AK-47 or AR-15, “you’ll have to sell them to the government.”

O’Rourke re-confirmed his position:
We need to buy back every single assault weapon. https://t.co/06UhoUGrzD

Is that so, Beto?
How does he propose going door to door to enforce confiscation? With guns? https://t.co/Me1Nm3HsnI

In all seriousness, what will the O'Rourke administration do when people say "no"? Force them at gunpoint? https://t.co/ohRC03W5Nl

Watching the government hold Americans at gunpoint while handing them money to “buy” their guns seems to be the world O’Rourke dreams of. Fortunately that’s not going to happen:
" i want to be very clear. The government will not take away your guns. But if you own guns, you will be forced to sell them to the government"

Good luck, furry. No Lib will ever infringe on the 2nd amendment.

Well good thing @BetoORourke won’t be POTUS to do that.

Win the presidency by revoking constitutional rights? Bold strategy. https://t.co/nKz6UplY8R

They want to get rid of the Electoral College too, but TRUMP’S the threat to the Constitution, or something.
I am really enjoying desperate Beto pander mode. https://t.co/mhdoGgWfYW
