As Twitchy reported Wednesday, President Trump was blasted by, well, everybody for his remarks about the late John McCain. However, CNN’s Jim Acosta has a special side dish to offer; an unnamed former McCain aide claims Trump was lying when he said McCain came to the White House and expressed his support for “repeal and replace” of Obamacare.
McCain certainly became a hero to liberals with his deciding “no” vote on a so-called “skinny repeal,” earning a literal superhero cape from the gals at Planned Parenthood.
But are we supposed to trust Acosta’s source on this?
A former McCain aide says Trump was lying when he claimed today the senator had misled the WH and said he was going to support “repeal and replace” effort before changing his mind. “Nope. Never happened,” the former aide said. “You’re surprised Trump lied?” the ex-aide added.

Ahem.
He held my hand at a town hall as I cried about losing my mom. He looked me in the eye and promised to repeal that monstrosity (his word) the first chance he got. He just needed my vote. He lied. The aide is lying. https://t.co/YT5NkfYjfQ

Name of the former aid @Acosta

Did you verify the false information this source told you? #notajournalist
— AmericanGirl (@AmericanGaGirl) March 20, 2019
Nah, he’s just passing it along to make Trump look bad.
Do you get salary bonuses at @CNN when you come up with super fake news like this??
— David Wohl (@DavidWohl) March 20, 2019
Another example of Acosta Journalism 101, no credibility ever.
— Lee Lang (@freespirit115) March 20, 2019
Wow, what breaking news! Great journalism!
— Aaron Sullivan (@ASully0231) March 20, 2019
A friend, and source over many years reported, "Jim Acosta has to make things up, because he has nothing substantial to contribute to the conversation with real facts on either side of any issue!"
— Dave Thomas (@trueDaveThomas) March 20, 2019
People that have names, on the record, say different. Which story does CNN tell you? The anonymous source that wasn’t even there.
Don’t be like CNN pic.twitter.com/XXTB1KIwri

Jim, you just can't help yourself. Mr. Schlapp is still maintaining that McCain flip-flopped. From your post, it looks as if you're contending that Matt Schlapp was quoting DIRECTLY to YOU. Is that the case? Not another one of your BS 'A source familiar with the matter' nonsense!
— John C. (@FedUp5thGenAmer) March 21, 2019
What's funny, is that you Jim, think we are supposed to believe you, CNN, & some"former McCain aide" as your "source". McCain served the country, but in the end, he hated Trump more than he loved America. All the GOP were shocked at his midnight vote down on the healthcare bill.
— ❌DeplorableKarin❌ (@KarinFritsch1) March 20, 2019
And You're surprised McCain aide lied? Maybe the same aide who leaked the dossier to 12 news outlets? Did you even check any other sources? You are such an obvious hack. Still playing on Obama's softball team?
— Daniel ODonoju (@EpluribusUNO) March 21, 2019
Gee, now there's a reliable source, a McCain aide. Why not just go to @MeghanMcCain for a quote? #EnemyOfThePeople
— DeplorableDregHillbilly ℹ (@GWhizSmith) March 21, 2019
Unnamed sources again?
You tarnish those who tell you they were there.
Did your “reporting” bring you to state what ANYBODY else said on his vote?
That’s what “Journalism” is all about.
You do know McCain Campaigned to repeal The ACA, right?
CNN agenda first.

No I am not surprised that @acosta lied or that the former campaign aide, who of course, was not mentioned by name lied. We all know McCain said he was for R&R to get elected then voted against it. We also saw his comments made afterward.
— ❌TRUMP2020!!! (@DianePierce532) March 21, 2019
A former McCain aide lied….
— Big Jim (@JimMcQuerry) March 20, 2019
Is that the same aid who delivered the Dossier to the FBI ?
— Blair Landry (@irsosmartfan) March 20, 2019
I believe Trump princess
— W. R. Collins (@eodwcollins) March 20, 2019
I believe Trump over McCain’s aide. Or CNN reporters.
— Ms. and_so_it_goes (@and_so_it_goes) March 21, 2019
He campaigned on it!
— Kat for Trump ?? (@Etherkat) March 20, 2019
McCain ran for re-election on the promise to repeal and replace OBAMA care. Typical of you and CNN to keep reporting False News based on anonymous people!
— David Stanley (@blackgoldloft) March 21, 2019
Jim I’ve got some ocean front property in ARIZONA, along with millions of dollars of campaign material that was clear from 2014 senatorial campaign that clearly says “REPEAL AND REPLACE!”.
Can somehow you read a book and learn what and how to be a journalist?
— Geswho®️ (@TheGeswho) March 21, 2019
He campaigned against Obamacare in 2012.
— Shane Singley (@sing6767) March 20, 2019
So I guess McCain lied to his constituents on the campaign trail for 6 years!!!!
— 3Jeeps3 (@3Jeeps3) March 20, 2019
His entire campaign was based on stopping aca.https://t.co/9wcdu4hESzhttps://t.co/Z1Su5Ynt0K
He lied. The aide lied. Everyone is fucking lying.
— LaurieAnn ??♂️ (@mooshakins) March 21, 2019
Fake news. McCain ran on this for re-election. look at all the videos of him saying it. You are a biased hack and Trump hater. Not a journalist.
— Deplorable_Maximus (@CritchlowPaul) March 20, 2019
No Acosta, we heard him say he was waiting for Paul Ryan to call him. Paul Ryan did call him and give him what he wanted and then at the last minute he refused to vote for what he promised his state and his governor.
— Claudy Conn (@Claudyconn) March 20, 2019
As an AZ resident I can absolutely tell you McCain lied…he repeatedly ran on the idea of getting rid of Obamacare to get re-elected – when his chance came to make it happen he flip-flopped.
McCain lied to every person in Arizona that voted for him.
— Caruso (@SCaruso555) March 20, 2019
Complete lie!! McCain said he flipped on the plane to DC to vote. He was all in before, the flip. McCain is like liberals who hate Trump more than they love our Country.#WakeUpAmericaNow
— Sgt Bill Cody (@sgtbillco) March 20, 2019
Poor poor Jim.
— JG (@joeygilbertinc) March 20, 2019
Jim's never heard of YouTube. McCain's campaign videos are all there. Sad.
— MAGA RƎVO⅃UTION ?? (@Sheep2Wolves) March 20, 2019
#Fakenews 2:00 & 3:50 on the video.
https://t.co/UlQDoOXu2k— jim shorts (@jameshorts) March 20, 2019
yes, it DID happen. McCain campaigned on it the entire time of this 2016 re-election campaign. that was his main promise when asking for the votes of Arizonans. or were we to expect he would go back on that cause campaign promises don't count?
