Leftist Compassion Is Limited to 'Me, Myself, and I'

imgflip

This will come as a shock to a lot of readers, but there was a time I used to be, well, a liberal. I was never a hardcore Leftist, but -- like most college students -- I was taken in by the Left's insistence they were compassionate, that they cared about other people, and that they were just kind souls trying to make the world a better place.

My wake-up call came during the 2004 presidential election, when Leftist professors breathlessly warned me that George W. Bush, if reelected, would reinstate the draft and send me off to fight in Iraq. All it took was someone showing me the proposed bill to reinstate the draft -- sponsored entirely by Democrats -- to open my eyes.

In the twenty years since then, I've spent enough time in political circles to know one universal truth: Leftists are the most selfish people on the planet.

There's no better example of this self-centered mentality than this:

Do you understand the argument here?

Riley Gaines has no right to stand up for women and girls because she wouldn't have won a competition in which a 'trans woman' (read: man) competed.

In other words, to the Leftist mind, doing the right thing only matters if they can personally benefit from it.

It's reflective in the way they view the world generally: there is no reality outside of their little bubbles. Everyone around them thinks and lives as they do, so no one else could possibly have a different way of living or thinking, and they operate under the belief history began the day they were born, and only their contemporary framework applies to events that happened centuries before.

The world revolves around them, and them alone.

This is also correct. It's why they advocate for gun control and argue that gun owners might become violent and just snap. The reality is, it's Leftists who might just snap. Like this trans activist who said LGBTQ people need guns to threaten women who don't let men into their bathrooms.

They will argue that we must ban guns to save one life. But -- just yesterday -- every single Democrat voted to keep men in women's sports, even if it means a girl will end up partially paralyzed and permanently injured. Even if it means hundreds of women lose out on opportunities to men.

The Left has spent years enacting and enforcing social rules on others that they won't abide by. Cancel culture is a great example of this. They had no qualms about getting people harassed and fired right up until those same rules were applied to them. Only then did they demand a ceasefire because the second the playing field was leveled, it felt like discrimination to them.

Riley Gaines and the others fighting to protect women's sports and safe spaces from radical trans activists aren't doing it for themselves. They're doing it for women and girls they'll never meet, some of whom haven't even been born yet. It's the definition of selflessness.

This is why such behavior is confusing to the Left.

If we took their argument to its logical conclusion, it was folly for Abraham Lincoln to free the slaves because he -- not a slave owner -- wouldn't have benefitted from his work. It was a waste of time for suffragettes to push for a woman's right to vote because a woman hasn't been elected president.

It makes no sense, but that's par for the course when it comes to Leftists. Moral relativism rots the brain and the soul.

So remember this the next time the Left lectures us on 'greedy' billionaires or 'selfish' Republican policies:

They're only generous with other people's time, money, safety, and comfort.

It's not 'Me Too', it's 'Me First and Me Only.'
